LATEST LASER NEWS
Issue 137, December 2019

Welcome to the December Newsletter

from Emmanuel Brousseau, Reader, Cardiff University

As the year is drawing to a close, I expect this e-newsletter will find most of us trying to complete as many projects and tasks as possible before the Christmas break. I recently submitted an abstract to ILAS 2020 and was able to cross it off my to-do list.

ILAS 2020 will be an event that has something in store for everyone. Given that it is combined with AILU’s 25th anniversary celebrations, it should be a great gathering for catching up with friends, for networking, and generally keeping a finger on the pulse of recent industrial and academic endeavours aimed at advancing laser processing technologies.

In 2020, we at Cardiff University look forward to making progress in developing an experimental set-up for the better integration of nanosecond
laser processing and 3D inspection tasks within the same system.

It has been more than two years since AILU's Early Career Researchers (ECR) Committee was set-up and Cardiff University PhD student, Yang Jiao, was selected to sit on this committee. It has been a great experience for him and we would encourage anyone interested in joining to contact
Dave MacLellan at AILU.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable break.
