Important Notifications

Public Health Campaign - ‘Dry January’

The first public health campaign of 2020 will be Dry January. This will be a mandatory campaign so pharmacies are encouraged to make preparations in advance. You can find out more about the campaign and order free resources here.

GMMH Substance Misuse Services – Cold Weather Plan

GMMH have sent this letter to providers of their substance misuse recovery services requesting confirmation by email to jane.wilson@gmmh.nhs.uk that pharmacies have adequate business continuity plans in place in the event of increment weather or other such adverse events. Please action accordingly.

Colestyramine sachets and Fluticasone nasules added to the list of medicines that cannot be parallel exported from the UK

Further to the news story Temporary parallel export ban issued to ensure continued supply of medicines, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has announced that Colestyramine sachets and Fluticasone nasules are to be added to the list of medicines which must not be parallel exported from the UK. The restriction on the following lines came into effect from 00:00 5th December 2019:
  • Colestyramine sachets
  • Fluticasone nasules

Medicine Supply Notification: Midazolam (5mg/ml) 50mg in10ml solution for injection ampoules

Suppliers Hameln and Accord have both reported a supply issue with midazolam (5mg/ml) 50mg in 10ml ampoules which will affect the whole of the UK. The anticipated resolution date is 31 January 2020. Please view the full notification here.
 

Class 2 Medicines recall: Ranitidine 150mg and 300mg Film-Coated Tablets (Accord Healthcare)

Accord Healthcare are recalling all unexpired stock of the products listed here from pharmacies and wholesalers as a precautionary measure due to possible contamination with an impurity Nnitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) which has genotoxic and carcinogenic potential.

Trafford: Update on Trafford Health Centre

On Monday 2nd December Flixton Road Medical Centre in Urmston began welcoming patients who were previously registered at Trafford Health Centre. Trafford Health Centre permanently closed on Friday 29 November due to the provider contract ending. Patients are still able to access Trafford Walk-in Centre and Trafford Urgent Care Centre, which are based in the grounds of Trafford General Hospital. All patients have been sent letters to notify them of the changes.
