NEW POLICY BRIEF: NYC'S SUSTAINABLE ROOF LAWS

Two laws in NYC’s recent Climate Mobilization Act aim to transform the city’s rooftops in the decades ahead. Local Laws 92 and 94 require solar panels or green roofs where feasible on all new construction and major roof renovations. Over time, that transition can help NYC reduce carbon emissions and adapt to a world with more intense heat waves, storms and floods.

The new requirements took effect on November 15, 2019. Our just-released Sustainable Roof Laws Policy Brief, created in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, explains the basics of what you need to know.
