LA COUNTY BUSINESS FEDERATION ENDORSES WESSON FOR LA COUNTY SUPERVISOR
Business Leaders Join Herb Wesson’s Broad Coalition of Support
Los Angeles, CA – Today, the Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed) joined the growing coalition of elected leaders, public safety groups and labor organizations supporting LA City Council President Herb Wesson’s campaign to represent the 2nd Supervisorial District. BizFed is a massive, diverse grassroots alliance of more than 180 business organizations representing 400,000 employers with 3.5 million employees throughout LA County.
“Our member organizations greatly value candidates who place jobs at the forefront of their agenda. Based on his demonstrated and longstanding leadership of working with employers to keep and create jobs in Los Angeles, the BizFed PAC is proud to endorse Council President Herb Wesson in his bid for County Supervisor,” said Tracy Hernandez, President & CEO of the Los Angeles County Business Federation (BizFed) and Principal Officer of the BizFed PAC.

LA City Council President Herb Wesson responded with the following statement:

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of BizFed. Together, we will fight for policies that strengthen our regional economy and prepare Angelenos for the 21 st century economy so that we can bring more working families into the middle class. As Supervisor, I am committed to bringing high-paying jobs back to our community, increasing the number of locally owned businesses the County works with, expanding career-technical programs and ensuring local hire for new developments built on unincorporated land in LA County."
For the last 30+ years, Herb Wesson has fought alongside community leaders and grassroots advocates to improve the lives of all Angelenos, as Chief of Staff to legendary LA County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, the 65th Speaker of the California State Assembly, the 1st African American President of the Los Angeles City Council and as a youth coach, mentor and father.

During his tenure as Council President, Wesson has presided over monumental policy initiatives that have made Los Angeles a better place to live, work and raise a family. These initiatives — which include raising the minimum wage, pension reform and consolidating city elections to increase voter turnout — have not only positively impacted local residents, but in many cases, sparked legislative responses at both the state and national level.

While real progress has been made in the last decade, Herb Wesson knows that there’s still more work to be done. That’s why he’s running for Los Angeles County Supervisor: to empower people and make a difference in the lives of local residents.

Herb Wesson currently lives in Los Angeles and is happily married to Fabian Wesson. They have four sons: Douglas, P.J. Herb III, and Justin Wesson.
