JYF/MYF Mentors & Mentees Cookie Baking

cookiesThe JYF and MYF will be making and decorating cookies this Saturday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m. We would love to have mentors join us as well! In fact, if you have a favorite Christmas goodie recipe that you would like to make with your mentor or a few youth, please bring the ingredients as well. We will share the cookies with everyone during fellowship time on Sunday, December 15.

Time to Turn in Christmas Gifts

mittensYour gifts for CAPS’ Heart of the Holidays Family project are due to Carla Weldy by Wednesday, December 18. You may deliver them to Carla at church or to her home at 842 Wentworth Drive in Goshen (please call or text first at #536-5138).

Gifts should total about $75-100 per person. Remember, they should be unwrapped, and each person’s 4 gifts (& gift receipts) should be placed in one large bag or box with their wish list securely attached. If your person’s gifts are less than the recommended amount, feel free to put the remainder on a gift card for groceries.

Thanks to Berkey’s generosity, 44 people will have a merrier Christmas, knowing that God sees and cares for them. That’s four times the number of people we served in 2018!

Christmas Eve Service

treeAll are invited to Berkey for a Christmas Eve service, "The Healing of Creation," a service of Lessons & Carols on December 24, 7:00 p.m. Refreshments, provided by the Fellowship Commission, will follow the service.

Mennonite Church USA

This year, Mennonite Church USA Archives launched an oral history project to collect interviews of young people between the ages of 24-40 within MC USA. Participants answered questions about their religious background, racial/ethnic identity and hopes for the future of MC USA. Excerpts from these interviews will be regularly featured in the Menno Snapshots blog.

Two Mennonite Church USA conferences voted unanimously to unite, ending a 172-year split. Read about this historic event.

Mennonite Creation Care

Forest churches  are groups of people who worship outdoors. Mennonite World Review recently featured Pastor Wendy Jantzen's work leading a monthly forest church near Wilmot, Ont. “Creation or nature is part of our congregation as well as our worship leader,” she said. “Nature guides our worship and engages in worship with us, which I think is very biblical." Read more.

Mennonite World Conference (MWC)

Genesis 1–11 is considered prologue to the entire Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. God’s intention for humans to multiply and scatter over the face of the whole earth is a central theme in the prologue. It is also reflected in what has been dubbed “table of nations” in Genesis 10. This celebrates the diversity of cultures and nations from Noah’s progeny (Genesis 10:5, 20, 31). Read more.
