Hi Farm Supporter,
You may have noticed I took a little break from writing to you.  The farm has been quieter but the farmer is still as busy as ever.

Last Friday we worked on an important project - covering our hoop house.

A hoop house is an unheated green house that we use in the field to protect certain vegetable crops and extend the growing season in spring and fall.

We originally put this hoop house up in the lower part of the west field in 2010, our second CSA growing season.  It has seen a lot of faithful service but over the years, the water drainage of the land caused the hoop house to be to wet to work the soil and grow what we wanted.

Last year we decided it was time to move it.  Starting in August, in the down times between more urgent tasks, the plastic was removed and the structure dismantled.  In the spring of 2019, the hoops were erected but there she sat through the rest of the season while we worked at everything else.

Finally we got back to work on the hoop house project in late fall until suddenly Farmer Reuben decided we had the perfect day to put the plastic on.

I was lucky to get out and capture part of the undertaking.  There are definitely tricks and considerations to this job and it all gets explained in this video.
Last Friday was in the 50s and pretty calm during the morning hours.  Were three people enough to get the job done?
Before you know it we'll be planting early greens, onions, and then, early tomatoes and cucumbers for your 2020 Farm Share season.

We are only one month away from planting our first seeds in the nursery greenhouse.  Can you believe it?!

I think you'll be pleased and maybe surprised with the changes, improvements and investments we are making.  I'll be unveiling these exciting developments in the coming months.
TOMORROW IS THE LAST SATURDAY MARKET OF THE YEAR!

The Brick Oven is fired up today for a full bake: Honey Wheat, Olive Rosemary and Country Sunflower bread.

We've restocked our Wild for Salmon so you can get delicious salmon, cod and salmon burgers for your special holiday meals.

You'll also find plenty of eggs, honey, pickles, soap, BACON and winter veggies - see veggie list below.

CHEESE! Amazing cheese is coming out of the cheese room and we have our shelves stocked with the new aged cheeses like Tangled Up in Blue (blue cheese), Mermaid Ave (brined aged cheese), and Rusted Route (beer washed aged cheese). You can also order online.

Purchasing your local food and gifts during season is a great way to support your local farmer. THANKS!!
We'll keep farming for you!
