Respected Community Leaders & Members

Salamun Alaykum

As we approach the end of a decade, I look back at my 10 years of volunteering service for The World Federation and am extremely grateful to have been a part of every milestone we achieved which allowed us to gain new heights year after year.

Although there was a lot of learning on the way, every decision we made to deliver successful services always came back to our core values:
  1. Serve with simplicity, sincerity, tenacity and patience
  2. Strive for excellence in all fields especially in education
  3. Enable and facilitate all community endeavours
  4. Engage grassroots
  5. Prevent duplication and support local efforts and innovations
  6. Respect others at all times
I look forward to seeing even more successes in the next decade, raising the bar higher when it comes to serving our community, and most importantly providing aid around the world to those inside and outside our community who need it the most.

Preparations are underway for our triennial Conference which will take place in Mombasa, Kenya in March, which will be preceded by the Presidential election. We've uploaded a frequently asked questions document regarding the Presidential election for those who want further clarity on the process involved.

In a bid to engage further with the youth of our community, we will be hosting a special youth conference alongside the main conference with the theme "Empowering the Youth of Today, to Become the Leaders of Tomorrow". It is so important we hear from the youth so I personally recommend our youth attend this important event. We will be releasing more information on how to get involved on our website in the new year.

Last week, Murtaza Dewji, a member of the Stanmore Jamaat in London, launched his second book called ‘Ability Through Disability Part II’, which provides a powerful insight into his life and disability. He hopes his books will encourage others to embrace their uniqueness. The books are available on WF Shop and I am delighted that once again, Murtaza will be very generously donating all proceeds to WF-AID, this time to help orphaned children and widows.

The opening ceremony of the Unity Games was held at the Iranian Club in Dubai, UAE on 24th December. We saw great performances from the participants in football, volleyball, cricket, badminton plus many others. We were proud sponsors of this event and glad to see the amazing turnout and would like to congratulate everyone again who took part and showcased their talents.

Mahmood Dhala, Assistant Secretary-General; Mohamedkazim Bhalloo, WF Treasurer; Dr Akber Mohamedali, President of the CoEJ; Dr Munir Datoo, President of Stanmore Jamaat and Councillor; Mustafa Jaffer, Councillor and I had the pleasure of meeting with His Excellency Dr Ja’far Al Sadr, Iraq’s new ambassador in London, who praised The World Federation for our continuous support in Iraq. We discussed how we can work closer together to help our communities even further.

Many of us are preparing for the new year creating new personal, fitness, spiritual, and financial goals to achieve for 2020. We've created a brief guide on Khums which contains the new ruling on loans from His Eminence al-Sayyid Ali al-Husayni al-Sistani (may Allah protect him). The guide includes worked examples to help you apply the new ruling to your day to day life.

Finally, our 2020 planner is out now, available in multiple formats. Download it or request us to send it to you.

I hope you enjoy reading this month's news roundup to catch up on our activities. If you want to be the first to find out our latest news, then be sure to follow us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

With Salaams and Duas,

Why History Matters
A concerted effort to preserve our heritage is a critical factor to maintain our cultural legacy. Each ethnic group or nation strives to preserve its cultural heritage that includes their social values, customs, dress, art, cuisine to name but a few that distinguish them from each other. Yet in this globalised world of today, not all of us feel a connection with our cultural heritage, while others yearn to connect. Learn about the many projects the Khoja Heritage team are working on.

WF-AID
Temperatures are falling across the world, leaving millions of families in a battle to survive the winter months.

As the temperatures plummet this winter, hundreds of thousands of families face a daily battle to stay alive without the heating, food and clothing they desperately need.

Mothers who have no option but to live in make-shift shelters exposed to the elements, are left to worry if their children will die from freezing or starving to death.

WF-AID is working in Pakistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Bosnia and the United Kingdom to distribute winter essentials to help them through these bitter months. Find out how you can help this winter by clicking here
Your continued support, enthusiasm, dedication and passion is what makes The World Federation of KSIMC a success. We'd like to say a special thank you for supporting our global efforts. Together, we are helping and improving the lives of people all over the world.
