The AUA is offering one delegate the exciting opportunity to represent us in South Africa at the third AAA annual conference in May. We will prioritise applicants who specify that they are willing to deliver a working session. The successful applicant will receive a bursary of £500 towards travel and accommodation costs as well as free entrance to the conference. What's more, if the successful applicant delivers a working session at the conference, they will also receive 3 free nights of accommodation.
Do you know someone within the sector who could be our next Honorary President? We invite you to nominate individuals to hold office from 01 August 2020 to 31 July 2022.
The AUA President…
Represents the AUA throughout the sector and acts as a key spokesperson on its behalf
Actively participates in the life of the AUA, including delivering the Annual Lecture and contributing to the Annual Conference
Contributes to the development and achievement of our longer term vision and strategy as an experienced independent voice
Liaises regularly with the Chair offering impartial advice and guidance
If you're one of our Southerly members, don't miss the AUA 5th Regional South Symposium: Finding Solutions.
This event aligns with many of the AUA’s professional behaviours and the central theme of this symposium is ‘finding solutions’. We hope that delegates will gain some practical, professional and personal tools, hearing from colleagues who have developed these in the context of working in Higher Education.
Professional development on this part of the update aren't just about new job roles. There are so many ways to make the most of your AUA membership and further both your experience and your network.
If you would like to discuss any of the details below, please feel free tocontact the office.
*New opportunity*
This is an exciting opportunity to manage Postgraduate Research Administration for the University of Bradford.
You will manage a small team of administrative staff to support the entirety of the student life cycle for PGR students from the point of enrolment.
This engaging and participatory workshop offers you an opportunity to assess, reflect upon, and focus your approach to staff development. You will consider what professional development opportunities look like and explore various management techniques to effectively engage staff, from the enthusiastic to the disengaged.
Back by popular demand, this one day workshop provides a good foundation of the principles of Lean and how they apply in Higher Education. It is an opportunity to build on your experience and knowledge of Lean and the tools and techniques for process and service improvement.
Most of us know the feeling – you look at your diary for the week and see a sea of meetings. First thought: When am I going to eat lunch?! Second thought: How am I going to keep on top of my emails (let alone do any follow up actions from said meetings)?!
The AUA’s Student Experience and Engagement network was launched in April 2019 to bring together staff within this field of university administration. We want to create a hub of activity for all of those working within the areas of student experience and/or student engagement. We also want to help those working in other areas of university administration to understand more about this area of work.
AUA Board member, Stephen McAuliffe was December's Spotlight member. Read Stephen's interview here.
'So, what do the AUA actually do?'
We know it's not any easy question to answer (not quickly, anyway), but the next time it comes up, we've got you covered.
By now you should have received your AUA Annual. It's both a celebration of all our collective achievements from that last year and an excellent introduction to the AUA and what we do.
