Guitars and banjos and harps, oh my! Around the world, the "stringed instrument" of David in 1000 BC comes in a vast variety of forms that all bear the same simple concept: the resonance of vibrating strings. By simply tightening the strings each a different amount, a whole host of notes can be produced. The result may be a bejeweled instrument created for a king; or one made by re-purposing discarded materials as has been mastered by street musicians in Africa. Whatever it falls in the spectrum, a beautiful song can be produced...and this Sunday, each child will be making a guitar all their own! Come and learn the basic principles of building an instrument, as we hear from a special guest presenter. Then enjoy a bounty of beautiful supplies that have been collected for you, from wooden cigar boxes to round banjo tins. Will yours have a "neck" like a standard guitar; or stand up as a harp? The choice is up to you! And so is the choice of who is going to be receiving your special gift, as we "wrap up" our day with an easy lesson in gift wrapping our new creation.
