CAMP Upcoming Events

For the first time in history, we have four generations working together. Each generation brings its different traditions, work habits and approaches to professionalism. However, with different generations interacting in the legal workplace, the potential for misunderstandings increases. Join our panel of experts to engage in learning conversations to solve problems that naturally arise among multiple generations practicing law. You will learn to recognize and understand the perceptions, perspectives and values of the four generations in the legal workplace.

Panelists:

JP Box
Barbara Randell

What makes legal writing and oral advocacy effective? Most experts posit that the best legal writing and oral advocacy has a decidedly “non-legal” tone. Our panel of judges will explore essentials of legal writing and oral advocacy in various contexts, with an emphasis on how telling a good story is imperative to constructing compelling arguments. Blue booking will most emphatically not be addressed!

Panelists:

At the time of the American Founding, Thomas Jefferson, among others, viewed lawyers as the class of citizens most suited to lead the American institutions of government, as well as preserve and protect them. Jefferson valued the ideal of the “Citizen Lawyer” who would have a broad liberal education, experiential learning, and be capable of using knowledge of the law to promote the public good.

Today, our nation is once again in need of strong lawyers who can work for the public good, to protect our system of government, preserve the rule of law, and promote the positive reformation of law when needed. Join our panel of “Citizen Lawyers” to learn how lawyers can leverage their roles in public service to positively influence issues of public policy, legislation, and lawmaking.

Peg Perl (Women’s Lobby of Colorado)
Phil Weiser (AG)
William Leone
Mike Johnston

Most of us couldn’t get through a day without technology; however, there are negative effects to always carrying around our smartphones, tablets, and laptops.  Research has linked our overuse of technology with depression, negative thoughts, loneliness, physical pain, compulsion, vision problems, and a decreased ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face interactions.  Examine your dependence on technology.  Dedicate time each day to being away from your technological devices, including your TV.  Living life is about experiencing it, not paying more attention to your texts and emails than your surroundings!
