Join KWIC and friends at the annual ReFrame Film Festival
for post-screening discussion of
Artifishal

"A look at the challenges ecologists and conservationists face in the lucrative salmon-hatchery industry.

A call-to-action doc about people, rivers, and the fight for the future of wild fish and the environment that supports them. The film explores wild salmon’s slide towards extinction, threats posed by fish hatcheries and fish farms, and our continued loss of faith in nature.

Following the screening of Artifishal, there will be a hosted discussion about how this salmon story connects to this watershed. The Otonabee River was home to the salmon nation until about 180 years ago."

A Message from Carmela Valles, KWIC Board Director

Dear friends,
As a Trent International student from the Philippines, I found a place of belonging at KWIC. My academic life was enriched by the opportunities KWIC provided to me through their programs, events, volunteer roles, and leadership presence on campus. As an international student, I was able to see more of the community through my engagement with KWIC.

Over the years, I continued to appreciate KWIC's ongoing collaborative work to build a more welcoming and inclusive community, through innovative education programs exploring important global important issues from different perspectives, amplifying voices and experiences not always heard in public discourse.
Now as a volunteer board member and chair of KWIC's fundraising committee, I have a deeper appreciation for our small passionate staff and committed volunteers, and the vitality of KWIC in our community: KWIC connects our community to the world through local initiatives.

I'm asking you to join me on the occasion of KWIC's 30th anniversary to help us make out 30K fundraising target by making a charitable donation, especially needed at this time of funding changes and uncertainty.  Please consider a monthly donation of $30.00, a one-time gift, or perhaps a legacy gift.
Donations can be made through Canada Helps (button below) and by writing a cheque to Kawartha World Issues Centre, PO Box 895, Peterborough, ON K9J 7A2.

Sincerely and with best wishes during this holiday season,
Carmela Valles, Volunteer, KWIC Board of Directors | Chair, KWIC Fundraising Committee
Please consider a new year charitable tax donation
to support KWICs work with our community.

Help us reach our 30K fundraising goal for our 30th anniversary!

We appreciate your support!
