Christ is the Source...
We are preparing to celebrate the birth of Our Lord in our unique Mariner way! This week we proudly present another OLG original Christmas Pageant, "The Wise Guys."

Performances will be Wednesday evening and Thursday morning in the OLG Gym & Performing Arts Center.

On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the pageant will begin at 6:30 pm. Come early for the pre-pageant band concert! The encore performance will be Thursday, Dec 19, at 10:30 am. Plan to attend one of these special performances.

Here's a preview of an early rehearsal with a glimpse at some of the animals. Many thanks to the talented parents who worked hard on the costumes. Can't wait to see them!
.
On Thursday, Dec. 19th, students will be dismissed at 12:45pm. There will be NO After School Care that day.

Community Performances
Band, Choir, and Bell Choir shared the joy of the season, performing at several locations in the community.

Focused on Service ...
Students put together 136 Seafarer Boxes for mariners who are away from home this Christmas. The boxes will be distributed to ships docked at the Port of Point Comfort.

Below is a picture of 7th grade students helping out at the Food Pantry, filling bags for distribution.

Field Trips

4th Graders were excited to learn about our marine environment in their Junior Marine Exploration trip.

5th Graders got an inside look at Religious Life in their trip to Incarnate Word Convent.

8th Graders made a whirlwind trip to Galveston and explored this area steeped in history.

Life on Board

Academic - Curriculum

Our standardized testing went well in September, and students scored above the national average. We are benchmarking online learning with Edgenuity, which offers various courses and also remediation in reading and math.

Students are busily reading and taking AR tests, and several students have already qualified for the AR trip coming up in the spring!

Mariners Athletics

The Lady Mariners wrapped up a successful volleyball season, with a homecoming supported by the entire school.

After the Christmas break, athletics will resume with track and soccer.

Home & School Association Voyages

The HSA has been hard at work. Their participation contributed to a successful Parish Fall Festival in September, and the October meeting was combined with a Halloween party filled with a huge variety of exciting costumes!

School Advisory Council

We are most grateful for the SAC members, who meet monthly to ensure that we can continue to provide a faith-based education to every child whose family so desires.
