The Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU) is a research organization, located at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. On behalf of the N.S. Department of Health and Wellness, the MSSU is conducting a study to better understand why Nova Scotian residents do or do not use 811.

811 is a tele-triage service that provides 24/7 access to Registered Nurses and credible health information to Nova Scotians 365 days of the year. Although the 811 service has been offered since 2009, only 10% of Nova Scotians use 811 in a given year.  As a result, our research team is interested in identifying reasons why the public does and does not use 811 services.

We would like to recruit a diverse group of individuals who may be available and interested in participating in our study.

The survey that is now live https://research-study.nshealth.ca/surveys/?s=RNTH734NYD. We realize that not everyone has access to a computer or enjoys filling out a form online. We are open to carrying out interviews in-person, or by telephone through setting up a time and date with members of our research team. We are hoping to secure dates with community members by the beginning of January.

If you have any questions or would like further information on the study please do not hesitate to reach out.
You can contact Liz Jeffers, MSSU Research Manager, at Elizabeth.jeffers@nshealth.ca (or call 902-473-7607) for further information on the study or to set up a time for a staff member to attend a meeting with willing participants with your organization. Participants who complete the survey will have the opportunity to be entered into a draw to win $100 grocery store gift card.

ILNS is not involved in the study, we are only distributing the information.
