It's Competition Time!!

Christmas is just around the corner and what a busy time of year, everyone is busy making purchases for our loved ones, including stocking fillers, stocking up our cupboards.

Just this morning I placed my order for meat, vegetables, crackers, cheese, chocolate boxes, fruit.
I placed orders for the Grandchildren.

We've put some decorations up this weekend but as I've not been too well, with this cold that has been going around we haven't yet put up the tree.  We like a real tree and so will buy this weekend coming.  It will begin to look a lot like Christmas then!

Are you Real or Fake?

Thinking of Christmas and stocking fillers got me thinking about my books and how they make great presents for all ages.  With this bundle, I have got all ages covered from 3 - 100 and one lucky winner will win them all.

Two Princes and a Princess Visit Lapland is a great story for a child and parents to share together.  Told in rhyming verse the children find a snow globe in their wardrobe give it a shake and the next minute they are in Lapland rolling down snow-covered hills, meeting and having tea with the Elves, meeting Santa and Rudolph but will they be on the Naughty or Nice list.  Santa reads them their reports from their Parents and Teachers.

Vampires, Ghosts, Knights and other Poetic Tales do you have a Goth in your family.  They will love it when you give them this book for Christmas.  Stories about Vampires finding the love of their life and then losing them again.  Ghosts who are yearning for their families.  Knights who reunite the living and dead.  The Poems are written with fun and humour and suitable for all ages 10 and above.  There is nothing too scary or sexual content in this book.

Daisies and other Nature Poems give this to your sister, mum or gran as an extra pressie and they will appreciate it.  The Poems cover topics such as Northern Lights, Fall, Sunset, and of course Daisies.  They are light, observational and written from the heart.  This book is sure to become a favourite with your loved one.

Winter Sun

This is my current Poem written just a few days ago, a sample of the type of Nature Poems I write.  I hope you enjoy.

At the start of a clear crisp winters day

Our gorgeous sun has come out to play

Bursting light through the white fluffy clouds

The warmth of its rays much weaker now

It turns the sky a pale yellow

Like a loving hug; it wraps you in its arms leaving you feeling soft and mellow

Its presence in the otherwise dull sky

Bringing a smile to our mouth and a sparkle to our eyes

It's a welcome start to the day

When winters sun comes out to play

Future Projects

Have you heard of NaNoWriMo?  Its a challenge to write a 50,000-word novel in a month, November being the month you complete this challenge.
I signed up to it to see if I could complete this task writing a children's novel.  I didn't complete it but I have written 10 of the 15 Chapters and I am loving the journey.
I will be finishing this Novel which is about two young Unicorns how they find themselves on Planet Earth, the new friends they make and how they eventually get home, with titles such as The Fall, The Landing, and The Scientist.

A sample from one of the Chapters is below - I hope you enjoy and welcome any feedback.
If you would like to become a Beta Reader and receive a First Draft when it is complete, email author@jacquelinemead.com - the first 6 will receive a first draft when it is complete, In exchange for their honest feedback.

Pegasus and Florin were “bored”  As mentioned previously it was a normal “boring” day in Hoof Valley until that was their Mother had announced out of the blue "children today the world is caving in, you cannot go outdoors, you must stay in until it is safe to go outside again!"

That caught the attention of the two Young Unicorns, “did you hear that?” the Unicorns said in unison “oh yes” Florin said, “I think Mother just said – the world was caving in and not to go  outdoors until we are told it is safe to do so”  “exactly what I heard” Pegasus replied.

are we going to do that?” Pegasus asked Florin “no way” Florin said a little naughtily, “this is our chance for an adventure”, nothing ever happens in Hoof Valley and we’ve been dreaming of an adventure for a long time now” “let’s start looking for a way outside, we need to know what is happening outside”

The naughty Unicorns were curious and did not want to miss the opportunity of experiencing something exciting for a change.  After all, it is not every day you are told by your Mother or anyone else  "the world is caving in "
