With the end of the year approaching, it’s time to renew your membership with the Island Mountain Ramblers for another year of hiking in 2020. If you joined the club between September 1 and December 31, 2019, then your membership is valid through till December 2020.
The Island Mountain Ramblers had an incredible 2019 season. We had a record number of trip leaders volunteer to create a dynamic calendar. Our schedule featured 130 events comprised of seventy-five-day trips, twenty-seven multiday trips, twenty workshops and education events, and numerous club socials and trail workdays. The combination of these events generated more than 194 days of activities for our members. On top of all the group events, we expanded the member Education Rebate that allows our members to access funds to offset the cost of taking skill-building courses.
Renewing your membership isn't about reminiscing over the past year; it's about looking forward. To that end, 2020 is already showing great promise. The summer schedule is in its early stages, but there are already a few popular Vancouver Island multiday trips and the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival. And, right now, our Trip Schedule Survey is underway, and this leads up to the Trip Planning Meeting on January 13th. With a growing wishlist of trips, we hope to pair these most popular trips with leaders, new and returning.
This year you have the option of renewing for a single year or set-up automatic renewal. The best and preferred way to renew is online, where you can complete your payment through PayPal’s secure server, or you can make a cheque payable to the Island Mountain Ramblers and mail it to the treasurer. Renewal is also available through e-transfer, contact treasurer@islandmountainramblers.com for details.
