Who lives in your brain?

Dear friends,

We are strong because our thoughts can change our brain. We are vulnerable because our thoughts can change our brain.

Our brain thinks about our past and future. It thinks about events. But mostly it thinks about people. It thinks about kind people, unkind people, brilliant people, people who helped us, and those who hurt us.

Our brain is predisposed to invite the unkind people and people who hurt us, much more than kind people or those who helped us. Unkind people also stay much longer.

Each person that visits your brain carves a unique space that is his or her temporary abode. When your brain hosts unkind people, it suffers damage at their hands. The damage is subtle and goes unnoticed initially. But after a while, it depletes your life of vitality, predisposes you to anxiety, depression, and chronic medical conditions. Such people hollow out your brain, predisposing it to dementia.

When your brain hosts kind people, it feels secure, worthy, and loved. Kind people help you build a stronger brain.

You have a choice who to lease a part of your brain’s real estate. Remember to exercise that choice today and every single day. For starters, spend more time thinking about the people who believe in you and are happy in your happiness.

Be careful about who is in your thoughts. People who occupy your brain change your brain.
