As we dive into 2020, we'd like to take a moment to reflect on the many exciting changes and growth that 2019 brought for the Food & Health Network. This growth has allowed us to expand programs and deepen regional impact. We are proud to collaborate with more organizations, schools, farms, healthcare providers, and individuals than ever before as we continue to meaningfully impact health, food security, and communities across the region.

Growing Farm to School
During the past school year, FaHN worked with 26 school districts to expand farm to school in Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego counties, resulting in over $449,899 in sales to regional farms, food hubs, and processors for produce and proteins.

Utilizing Food as Medicine
In 2019, 240 individuals and families with chronic health conditions received prescriptions for local produce from their healthcare providers. Participants and their families received up to $360 each in vouchers. There are now 31 locations where participants can redeem their vouchers for fresh produce.
FaHN also hosted a Food as Medicine Summit with over 150 attendees.

Developing Community Food Systems
Over 543 volunteers were linked with programs at member organizations that support strong community food systems, providing over 3,800 hours of service.
