Communicating the Value of IP
Thursday, January 30; 4:30 - 6 PM; Bill Moore Student Success Center, President's Suite C

How do you explain the IP and articulate the reasons that being an IP student make you a stronger candidate for professional and academic opportunities? Join us at this workshop to learn more. This workshop will help students generate responses to interview questions and anecdotes for networking.

International Opportunities Open House

Come meet OIE advisors and learn about study abroad opportunities, Global Internships, the International Plan, scholarships, and more. This is a great time to ask questions about Tech's many programs in one place and indulge in some tasty refreshments.

Leveraging Global Experience for Your Career
Thursday, January 28; 11 AM - 12 PM; Student Center Room #301

The All Majors Career Fair is happening soon! OIE invites you to participate in this workshop to take what you’ve experienced with Tech internationally and apply that to your professional toolkit. We will provide resume and interview resources as well as time to practice your interview skills with trained professionals.


Graduating this Semester?

If you are graduating this semester and want to have the International Plan designation on your diploma, be sure to make an appointment with the IP Manager by February 3rd to submit your degree designation form! (Please do not drop off.) Please use the most recent International Plan Student Summary to check that you have completed all requirements. 

If you are planning to graduate in the summer, please let the IP Manager know by emailing internationalplan@oie.gatech.edu.

Language Distinction - ACTFL OPI

If you just came back from a study abroad or exchange, consider taking the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) administered by American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)! Students wishing to receive the "Language Proficiency" distinction have the option to take the test. Students who pass the OPI at the requisite level of proficiency receive a “Language Proficiency” distinction on their transcript in addition to the regular International Plan designation.

Petition Process

If you have taken a class not on the Globally Focused Courses list but think it could count as one of your three course requirements, you may petition to be granted an exception to an IP policy or appeal an IP requirement. This especially applies to you if you took a country/region course abroad or possibly a special topics class.

OIE Administered Study Abroad Scholarship Deadline

The OIE Administered Scholarship Application is open and accepting applications! The next application deadline is February 15, 2020. Apply online ASAP. It is not required to select a program before applying for a scholarship. If you are going abroad this upcoming summer or fall on your 2nd IP experience, and you want to be considered for the IP Scholarship, you MUST submit an OIE Scholarship application by the deadline. You must also have your experiences formally approved to be eligible.

How to Afford Study Abroad

This session will focus on students interested in funding their study abroad experience with OIE Administered Scholarshipscampus study abroad scholarships, national scholarship and fellowship opportunities, and we'll also discuss other tips for funding international experiences.

Study Abroad Deadline: Exchanges and FLSA

Students who are interested in studying abroad on an exchange program during Fall 2020 and/or academic year should make sure to submit their application materials on-time. While deadlines may vary for programs, February 1, 2020 is the deadline for many Tech Exchanges. In addition, many Summer Faculty-led Study Abroad programs have deadlines around mid-February, so if you are planning on studying abroad, please submit your application soon!
