Timeless TexStyle Spring Parade

Timeless TexStyle Spring Parade was launched on Saturday 9th November- and what an afternoon it was..filled with much colour, style and excitement.

16 fibre artists from around Australia and the Netherlands presented their own unique wearable art style.

Timeless TexStyle Tribe (TTT) is about finding ourselves through creativity..making and wearing unique clothing and accessories. Secondly, it is about sustainability and living on this beautiful planet as lightly as possible.

The Spring Parade is the launching of TTT, which is be followed up with workshops next year..learning to re design your own clothing or scraps of your much loved fabrics. making marks and printing on fabrics plus much more.

Introducing the fibre artists:

Barbara Nashe; a local Newcastle environmentalist and sculptor who creates extraordinary jewellery.
Charity van de Meer, from the Netherlands  creates these beautiful felted dresses  inspired by nature with the use of durable and ecological products
Brisbane based fibre artist Sylvia Watt creates wearable art with two admirable intentions. Her garments like this dress do not follow a particular fashion trend and reuse what is around us.
Myf Stirling's (Nimbin) passion is the total process of making and designing individual wearables from start to finish- embellishing by topstitching these felt tunics.
Susan Doherty's (Karunda) accessory collection reflects her long history of collecting and delighting in the joy of adornments, then extending this into making sculptural pieces by re-purposing found objects
Anne Leon (Mullumbimby) creates fusion art cloth into exquisite clothing. She used screen - and - block prints and dyes on textiles and paper.
Local felt maker Petra Hilsen has been exploring the versatility and wonder of felt, creating a range of wearable art.
Newcastle based artist Svetlana Kchevetskaia was raised in the Soviet Union where there was a deficit of just about everything. This has inspired her creativity in producing from a range of repurposed recycled fabrics.

Local artist, Pearl Moon's approach is one of comfort, practical ease of movement through innovative cut, embellishment, detailing, colour, pattern and design.
Fringe Dweller clothing by Gina Ermer are designed for comfort, quality and fit and is influenced by a Japanese aesthetic in its simplicity and attention to detail
Canberra based Hanny D Designs has been a re-cycler for most of her life and loves the joys of op-shopping. She recycles and upcycles all she finds into creatively designed clothing.
Gina Mastio has been enamoured with trees and bark, loving the organic shapes and designs. She masterfully transfers these designs into her felt/silk artworks.
Local artist Leesa Colgan is a plant dyer with a difference- she has been exploring a range of underused regenerated fabrics: waste plant material after food harvesting such as orange peel and milk wastes to name a few.
High Tea with Mrs Woo is the design collaboration of three creative sisters who create eloquent women's clothing and accessories with natural fibre fabrics.
