Thompson Featured Artist CD
Handmade to Hand Playedhas been in the works for many months. Tim May and Adam Chowning both encouraged the idea of gathering songs for a CD with the proceeds going towards Preston's medical bills. As life turned in another direction, with Preston's passing, so did the idea of where the money would go.
With the help of the Oregon Bluegrass Association we are setting up a Preston Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund that will provide a Thompson guitar to a young and upcoming musician each year. Preston was always commenting on how he drew inspiration from the emerging young musicians, so honoring him this way will keep his legacy alive and well into the future.
Thanks Adam for coming up with the title and helping put it all together with master mixer, Brandon Bostic, at his Nashville studio.
A veryspecial THANK YOU to all the artists that gave us a song to share.
Physical copies will be available in the new year, but for now here is where you can digitally download the awesome album!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS - ENJOY and thank you for your contribution! https://store.cdbaby.com/cd/handmadetohandplayed
Peghead Nation This custom Thompson guitar was reviewed by Teja Gerken. The combination of a 0000 body, 14 fret and slotted headstock makes it a unique combination of features. The Shipwreck Brazilian, sunburst and original Thompson shipwreck inlay makes it a beauty. Thanks to Teja for his reviews this year!
MOLLY TUTTLE on E Town
If you haven'tlistened to E Town in awhile, Nick and Helen Forster are still going strong with this great show they started in 1991. His excellent interviews are a way to learn more about so many talented artists. Here is a recent interview with Molly Tuttle talking about her life and career as a guitar player and singer/songwriter.
NEW THOMPSON SERIES
It is important to keep the team's creative juices flowing, showing off their skills and creativity as they design and build a handful of one-of-a-kind guitars. These guitars will be included in our Masterpieceand TimelessSeries that will highlight new techniques, such as using brass as a medium for binding and a unique painting/stain technique on the back of a Quilted Western Maple set for the2nd in our Masterpiece series.
Paul Huemiller is a champion of fostering individual talents and we are grateful he is supporting our efforts by offering these one-of-a-kind guitars through Dream Guitars. Keep a watch out in our next newsletter for specs and building photos/videos as they are completed and become available for sale.
