FUND RESEARCH, FIND A CURE

An update from Cancer in Kids @ RCH
December 2019

WET WEATHER BUT WONDERFUL...

The Wood Days event is a very special weekend which is the result of the hard work of the Duyvestyn family and their many friends within the local community. On initial figures this year's Wood Day's event has raised in excess of $23,000.  An amazing result! You can read all about the 24th Wood Days here.

And get ready for next year - the 25th Wood Days will be even more exciting!
So many things to do at this year's Wood Days.

SUPER CIKA SUPPORTER

Danielle Levy pictured with proud parents Marcel and Judith.

Danielle Levy is a very special CIKA supporter.  She decided that, on the occasion of her Bat Mitzvah, she would forego gifts and instead raise funds for CIKA in honour of her uncle, Simon Bergman, who lost his battle with Hodgkin's disease in 1996.  Danielle, with the help of her very generous family and friends, raised in excess of $5000.  You can read more about Danielle and perhaps even add to the total by clicking here

SO MANY WAYS TO RAISE FUNDS

Tammy of Cafe Velo in Bendigo is busy raising money with a CIKA tin on the counter. It's amazing how it adds up...

Meanwhile, CIKA supporter Melissa, decided it was time for some 'regifting'. Double the pleasure: receiving the gift then giving again...and for such a great cause!

Just one of the beautiful knitted items made by CIKA supporter Shirley Stanley that have been snapped up at the Trentham Market.  Shirley has knitted too many items to count and we are very grateful for her support.

Nellie Bateman was able to pass on her many dancing costumes to a dancing school in Berwick. This resulted in a sizable donation to CIKA.

Email our president, Sandra Lehrer, if you wish to donate goods or money to CIKA. We'll make sure that 100% of your generous donatations go to research.

CONTINUED SUPPORT FROM MLC
Over the past 10 weeks a small group of Year 9 students from Methodist Ladies' College raised funds for CIKA by creating a small catering company through which they sold products to MLC staff. They worked extremely hard and raised over $1500. The girls recently visited the RCH and undertook a visit to the research lab with Tumour Bank Coordinator, Louise Ludlow.
You can read more about the visit here. You can read more about MLC's support of CIKA here. Thank you to all involved but especially to MLC teacher Deb Hudson who makes this wonderful program happen each year.
