Exhibit Designers Go West!
Sixth-grade students are working hard, creating museum displays to honor talented innovators, artists, and Native Americans from the United States' westward expansion. This summative assessment is called "The Smithsonian Needs You!" and requires students to use a minimum of four primary sources, and citations, while creating multiple sections. Individually students are focusing on an influential person involved in the story of westward expansion and settlement of the West. The people they are writing about include Geronimo, Buffalo Bill Cody, Theodore Juda, Frederic Remington, and Albert Bierstadt.
