Dear Friends,

THIS JUST IN:
This morning the new law was put before parliament with crucial modifications.

The good news is that some of the most worrying articles were taken out:
  • the abolishment of the National Cultural Fund: REMOVED

  • the complete cut of the operational funding of independent performing arts infrastructures and companies: REMOVED
However, the previous proposal for the transfer of right of the appointment of city theatre directors to the Minister has partly remained, in a modified form, leaving this to the individual agreement of the Minister and the mayors.

Read a post by our friend Anikó Rácz, the producer of this year’s dunaPart 5 and Director of International Relations SÍN Arts Center for more details.

SIGNING THE PETITION
In the last 72 hours, over 50,000 signatures have been added to the Independent Performing Arts Association petition! And that's without mine. Since Saturday, we’ve been trying to sign the petition, and we’ve finally cracked the code. It’s very simple (click here to sign).
  • In the first box (“Vezetéknév”), enter your Last name.

  • In the second box (“Keresztnév”) enter your First Name.

  • Then give your email address.

  • Leave the country as Hungary, and lastly enter a four-digit code (“Irányítószám”). What seems to work best for us is 1055.
Within a minute or so you should get an email from aHang in Hungarian acknowledging your signing of the petition.

STAY TUNED...
In Solidarity,

Philip
