Dear <<First Name>>,

It is great to know God's love for us and all peoples, demonstrated through His greatest gift of all, Jesus. As Paul says in Rom 8.32 ...(God) gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? May you know His abundant blessing. Thanks for taking time to read and pray for the various news items below.

God bless, Barry Funnell

Christmas Greetings

Luke 2.10 - 11  "But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.'"

The hosts of angels shared this news to shepherds, who were considered unimportant in society. What a proof that Jesus came to save ALL people, not just the important, the rich, the educated, or those who can speak English! He came as the saviour of the whole world.

Luke 2.17 says "When the shepherds had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child."

We at TWFTW love to spread the news in every language that God loves ALL people. Thank you for joining us in spreading this good news to all. We are grateful for our supporters and praying friends from near (our church's missions prayer group on the photo) and far....that means YOU!
Have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed 2020!

Training in Zambia

Regine, our international director of training, recently assisted with the training of 21 aspiring translators from 11 language groups in Zambia.  The languages are spoken in Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe respectively. The small group in the photo above is imitating and transcribing speech sounds as part of a phonetics course.

Since September we have had training events in 1ndia, Myanmar, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia.
The Christmas story of God's love through Christ deserves to be told in every language. Why not give a gift of God's Word in an unreached person's heart language this Christmas?  Click here to contribute

Please join us in praise for:

  • God's love for all people including you.
  • Growing work in Ethiopia. This year’s DBT training took place in Addis Ababa for 74 students representing 26 language groups. We hope to be able to start a BT project soon in 4 languages: Donga, Tembaro, Nayi and Podi.
  • Our international president, Veroni, who broke his hip is recovering well.

New Frontiers in Asia

Barry had the privilege of going to Myanmar to check the Gospel of Mark in the Kinerah project which means it can be published soon for the 2 million speakers. He met the members of 4 translation teams of TWFTW. He was able to share devotions and TWFTW's vision at the three week diploma training programme. It is hoped that another 4 projects will be added in 2020.

What is so exciting about this visit is that Barry and Julia have had a lifelong dream of being involved in Myanmar. In1988, when at Africa School of Missions, they chose Myanmar as a country prayer focus and dreamed God's vision for reaching the unreached people groups there with God's Word. Finally it is becoming a reality!

Always mentoring

Barry mentored two consultants in training (CITs) while checking Mark in Kinerah of Myanmar. One CIT was from Myanmar and another from a neighbouring country. The excellent exegetical checking done beforehand by an experienced translator from another project in Myanmar (where TWFTW has already published the New Testament), meant we were able to complete checking of Mark in a record five days.

Six NTs for SE Asia

As a result of our training programme in SE Asia and years of working with partners there, six New Testaments have been published at the same time in the southern region of SE Asia, and another in the north too. What a blessing it is to see God's Word in another seven languages! This is fruit of our training and our group consultation method.

Please pray with us for:

  • Kobus Van As has stepped in as acting CEO of TWFTW International due to Veroni's health problems, and he will take up this post officially from 1 July 2020. Pray for wisdom in all these transitions.
  • Pray for the four current projects in Myanmar to progress well, and for Mark's Gospel in Kinerah to make a great impact in this unreached people group (0.1% Christian). Pray for the right people to be able to start new projects.
  • Pray for the New Testaments published in seven languages in SE Asia to bring the good news to these unreached groups and for new believers to be effectively discipled.
