Visit to Full Belly Farm, CA

Oahu RC&D's Hannah Hubanks visited Fully Belly Farm in Yolo County, California, last month to learn about their combined approach to food safety and sustainable agriculture. The farm shared insights on growing food in a healthy ecosystem, full of biodiversity. We look forward to sharing what we learned from our California partners with farmers in Hawaiʻi, and learning more about how to best adapt food safety practices to sustainable agriculture in 2020.

Waiheʻe Valley Workday
Mahalo to everyone who participated in the field day we co-hosted with the Koʻolau Mountains Watershed Partnership in November! It was a fun morning with JC, Frankie and Jordan and we're already looking forward to the next volunteer day to check in on the palapalai ferns, alaheʻe, carex sedge and hala that we planted. Mahalo nui to the KMWP team for sharing their expertise on the control of albizia and fiddlewood with our farmers. Here’s a great publicly available resource on the topic: "Strategic Plan for the Control and Removal of Albizia in Hawaiʻi". The PDF guide,  authored by JC, is the best source of information on albizia management, including detailed instructions for two effective control techniques shared at the field day: girdling and incision point application.
