Hello <<First Name>>

What a challenging few weeks this has been for many in Australia. If you’re struggling to get into the festive spirit, you’re not alone.

On top fires, drought and hazardous smoke haze, I’m experiencing a minor technical issue and am unable to upload new content to my website. There’s a bundle of new resources waiting in the wings, that I’ll share in the new year. Fortunately the website is still live and searchable, with full access to articles, recipes and online bookings.

Festive food

Are you looking for inspiration to create a healthier Christmas day? From the archives is my round up of delicious celebratory food ideas, including lots of plant-based options.

The festive season is inevitably sprinkled with sweet treats. So why not make your own, high antioxidant, cardio-vascular protective and totally delicious festive chocolate bark? Scroll down for the recipe. It’s super easy, looks spectacular and makes a tasty gift (if you can bear to part with it).

Gift vouchers

Speaking of presents, would you like to give someone the gift of health or help an overwhelmed health practitioner step up their practice? Vouchers are available for a wellbeing plan/initial naturopathic consultation or mentoring report, or a dollar value amount. Simply click and purchase, then download the voucher.

If you’d like someone to gift you this, just send them this link or forward the newsletter. There are also dollar value vouchers available, if you’re a current client who’d like a credit towards your next session.

Thank you and feedback

A big thanks for your support this year; all the clicks, comments, likes, shares, consultations and referrals.

If there’s any aspect of my newsletters, articles, recipes, social media posts or services that you’d like more (or less) of, or something else you’d like to share with me, please let me know.

I’m hatching my plans for 2020, including more naturopathic and mentoring resources (programs, webinars, articles and even e-courses if you want them) but I’d love to hear what you need the most. So, please get in touch

I hope you stay safe over summer.

In good health,
Gill

Recipe: festive chocolate bark

This is super simple and easy to add your own celebratory twist. If you’d like a festive theme, use a combo of red, green and/or white toppings. This makes a sweet gift, if you can resist eating it all yourself!

Festive chocolate bark

200 gm dark chocolate* ( 85% or higher)
½ cups red toppings: eg freeze dried raspberries, edible dried rose petals or pomegranate seeds (pith removed)
¼ cup green toppings: eg unsalted, raw pistachios or pumpkin seeds
¼ cup white topping coconut, desiccated or flakes

Cover a shallow baking tray with parchment or baking paper.

Break chocolate into small pieces and melt in a double boiler or microwave, then pour into the lined tray. Gently tip the tray back and forward until there’s a thin, even layer of chocolate. Sprinkle with toppings, until you have the desired colours and an even coverage. Refrigerate for about an hour, until set. Peel away the baking paper and snap or cut into pieces. Store in an airtight container (and keep in the fridge during warm weather).

Variations

Chocolate is for life, not just for Christmas! This is equally delicious sprinkled with chunks of your favourite dried fruit and nuts.

This recipe is dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan (depending on the chocolate used). If you’d like more simple and healthy recipes, subscribe to the free monthly newsletter or browse the recipe archive.

*Chocolate is considered a medicinal when it has a high cocoa percentage and is low in sugar but like all therapeutics, it’s all about dose!
