It's the most wonderful time of the year:  Christmas Bird Count!
We need  you to participate in the longest-running citizen science program in the world, the Christmas Bird Count, by counting birds at Battery Kemble Park this Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. We hope to see lots of woodland species including woodpeckers, kinglets, and sparrows.

As always, please be mindful of weather conditions, dress and hydrate appropriately, and use caution when traveling to new or unfamiliar birding locations. Tickets are available two weeks before the event. We are limiting the number of participants for this citizen science effort; you must register to attend.

First bird walk of the new year!
Join DC Audubon in Constitution Gardens on Saturday, January 11th for an opportunity to see a wide variety of birdlife within the context of many of our city's finest monuments and memorials. In addition to waterfowl, gulls, and Great Blue Herons, we'll be watching for winter residents like nuthatches, woodpeckers, and kinglets.

We'll meet at the corner of 17th and Constitution Avenue, NW (southwest corner) at 9:00 am. Constitution Gardens is accessible by metro. Nearby stations include Smithsonian and Federal Triangle on the Orange/Blue/Silver lines, as well as Metro Center and Farragut North on the Red Line.

As always, please be mindful of weather conditions, dress and hydrate appropriately, and use caution when traveling to new or unfamiliar birding locations. Tickets are available two weeks before the event at this link.

DC Audubon featured in Washingtonian Magazine
In case you missed it, DC Audubon was heavily featured in the October issue of Washingtonian Magazine.   Writer Colin O’Connor joined one of our Rock Creek Park walks and conducted interviews with past and present Board members for a lively and informative article on the joys of birding in D.C.   The article can be read here

DC Audubon Has A New Website!
We are pleased to announce that we have a new website. In it you can find all the content from our previous website and new information that we hope will be helpful for all of those interested in our Chapter’s work and birdwatching in the Nation’s Capital. Take a look at our new website at www.dcaudubonsociety.org. Let us know if you have any feedback or suggestions. Thank you to our volunteer Jared Nielsen for all his help!
