A Look Back at 2019

2019 was another busy year for the PETA International Science Consortium Ltd. Here are some of the highlights:
  • Our paper "Evaluation of the Avian Acute Oral and Sub-Acute Dietary Toxicity Test for Pesticide Registration", published in Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, was used by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to draft a policy allowing companies to submit a waiver for the avian sub-acute dietary test.
  • Two researchers pioneering the use of non-animal methods in their respective fields won our annual Early-Career Scientist Award to attend the Institute for In Vitro Sciences' (IIVS) Practical Methods for In Vitro Toxicology Workshop.
  • Following publications, presentations, workshops, and other donations related to inhalation toxicity, we donated additional equipment to IIVS to meet companies' respiratory testing needs.
  • We held five public webinars, including three in our ongoing series, "Use of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in Risk Assessment", which is co-organised with the EPA and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
  • With the National Toxicology Program Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Toxicological Methods, we co-organised the workshop "Developing Strategies to Increase the Use of Recombinant Antibodies".
  • We presented more than two dozen posters and oral presentations at scientific conferences around the world.

We have many exciting projects planned for next year, so stay tuned!
