HECTARIUM Food Survival Eco-Game

Merry Xmas.

Dear friends,

Apologies to all of you. We are very, very late and very, very behind schedule, too. We announced our prototype to be ready for testing (by you, the community) by the end of November. And we didn't mean November 2020. Since there is nothing more tedious than lengthy excuses, we will make it short: 1. We had difficulties in finding extra help for our programmers who are still busy with their own award-winning game. 2. We were up to our necks in pitching Hectarium to different foundations to raise more money.

We hope you're still with us. Chris, at least, is. He's the man to help Jiannis (our guru at Honig Studios). We are very grateful for him stepping in. With his help, we'll finish the prototype during January. And deliver it to you in February. So it's ten weeks to go. We hope you spend at least three of them in a Christmassy mood and then welcoming the new decade. It'll be the decade when Hectarium sees the light of day. We are still excited as hell.

A big and heartfelt thank you for making it with us through this year.

Have a peaceful, reflective and cheerful Christmas time and a swell 2020!

With love from Anke, Diego, Ivan and all of us at Hectarium

RECOMMENDED TO READ

The International Center for Tropical Agriculture launched an open-data map on the sustainability of food systems in different countries. This comprehensible article sums up why this is an excellent and useful thing. We'll keep an eye on that.

RECOMMENDED TO DISCUSS

Please note: This article was launched on November 27th, not on April 1st. It gives another example of merging agriculture with future-tech. We at HECTARIUM are not quite sure what to make of it. Good idea? Bad idea? Worst idea of all times? Please discuss. (For example: has WoW to be renamed into CoW?)

RECOMMENDED TO ENJOY

Going vegetarian or vegan is one of the best things to do when it comes to contributing to a sustainable future for our planet. One might argue that Christmas is the worst time to start because you'll be missing out on the roast – well, to be honest: you won't. Check out these yummy recipes.

LISTEN TO THIS

Jason Ringenberg invented cow-punk with Jason & The Scorchers is "Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award" winner, as well as the winner of an Emmy for the tv-program of his alter ego, Farmer Jason, educating children in farming and nature. There is no better connection of farming, Christmas and rock'n'roll than this!

Like always - with love from Anke, Diego, Ivan and all of us at Hectarium.
