A review of 2019 and the coming year ahead for Myriad.

It’s that time of the year again when Christmas trees start appearing in shops, adverts on TV are filled with Christmas gift ideas and we start asking ourselves here at Myriad – ‘where has the year gone?!’.
As 2019 draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on the past year and everything we have achieved. Way back at the start of 2019, we had very ambitious plans for the year ahead. At the time it seemed like a mammoth amount of work and we did question how we’d fit it all in! Thankfully, the team here at Myriad have gone above and beyond, as always, to get the job done.
First on our list was making a long-standing vision of ours come true. For many years we had dreamed of having our own bespoke online ordering system for our customers. We know that every minute one of our customers’ vehicles was off the road, it was potentially costing them money, so we wanted to make sure they could order parts and check stock in ‘real time’ 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
With all of our experience and understanding of our customers priorities, we wanted to make sure that our new platform delivered as much value as possible for our customers. So, we made sure we included enhanced part descriptions, 360-degree images, personalised pricing and an improved search facility – the list of features we came up with was very long!
Thankfully our tech team were able to work their magic and build a system that actually matched our own ambitions. Looking back, it was a very ambitious project but one we are happy to report has been a great success. In June, after months of hard work, we were finally ready to launch our new platform and we couldn’t think of a better place to officially launch than the Temperature Controlled Storage and Distribution Show (TCSD).
The show is always one of the highlights of the year, and this year was no exception, as we were also proud sponsors of the Transport Refrigeration Service Provider of the Year Award. This is a major award for us to be associated with as customer service is at the core of everything we do here at Myriad. It was a great honour to present the award to Carrier Transicold UK, with Managing Director for Northern Europe, Scott Dargan, accepting the award on the night from our Operations Director, Karol Smoter.
Towards the end of this year, we became proud members of The Cold Chain Federation. We’re extremely honoured to be part of an industry that plays such a critical role in the lives of people all over the world. With an estimated world-wide fleet of over 4 million refrigerated vehicles on the road, delivering lifesaving medical supplies and preserving the shelf life of our food, it is crucial to us to be part of an organisation championing the work of our industry in the UK.
It wouldn’t be right to end the year without looking to the future. You see, 2020 is a very special year for Myriad, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. We’re not going to get all nostalgic (just yet!) but taking time out to think about what we’ve achieved, not just in 2019 but since Myriad was founded way back in the year 2000 by our Managing Director, Stephen Cleland.
Needless to say, a great deal has changed during this time, not just as our business has grown and flourished but in the transport refrigeration industry as a whole. One thing that has remained constant though, is our commitment and dedication to customer care. We’re looking forward to celebrating in style next year but right now, we’d like to thank all of our customers, partners and suppliers for making 2019 one of the most memorable years in our history. We hope you all have a lovely Christmas break and a fantastic New Year.
