Dear friend,

I’m just getting in touch because you responded to my survey and said you’re voting for a party that isn’t Labour in the election this Thursday.

I just want to make sure you are aware that here in Croydon Central the seat often swings between Labour and the Tories. Although I won by 5,000 votes in 2017, the Tories scraped through by just 165 votes in the 2015 election.

You may sympathise with other candidates, and I understand that. But I am facing a challenge from an austerity supporting, hard Brexit Tory candidate. On December 13th you will wake up with either me as your MP, or a Conservative who will just support Boris Johnson without question.

You are electing the person you want to be your local MP for the next five years. I always fight hard for Croydon Central’s interests and for jobs, investment and living standards across the area. Nearly a decade of Tory austerity has left this country on its knees with public services breaking down, living standards falling and economic growth slowing down almost to a standstill. My priority will always be improving the lives of my constituents and I believe that there is so much beyond Brexit that urgently needs fixing in this country. Boris Johnsons’ Tories will create more problems than they solve.

I have a strong record of delivery over the last 2 years as a hard-working and independent-minded constituency MP. In my short time as an MP, I have confronted the most important issues to the people of Croydon Central.

I lead the national campaign against knife crime – tackling the scourge of youth violence and unsafe streets that the Tories seem happy to ignore. I serve as a Shadow Housing Minister – working to tackle the housing crisis that makes life hard for so many across Croydon Central and the UK. Since I was elected in 2017, I have dealt with over 16,000 cases of people’s problems or concerns, held over 100 surgeries across the constituency and met children from every school in Croydon Central. I have campaigned on issues as wide-ranging as tram safety, fire prevention, the development of Westfield and have met with and supported hundreds of local charities and organisations.

You can find out more about my priorities as your candidate under ‘Campaigns’ on my website: www.sarah-jones.org. If you are unsure how you are voting and would like to talk to me or one of my staff about the election, you can ring my office on 0208 191 7064 between 10am-4pm and I will do my best to help.

If you would like to support my campaign, thank you so much. You can sign up here to help: www.sarah-jones.org/volunteer/ or let me know by calling 0208 191 7064.

I've been proud to represent you in Parliament since 2017 but after just two and a half years there is so much more to do. I want to finish the job. If you give me your vote this Thursday, I promise to give you five years of hard work and commitment.
With very best wishes,

Sarah Jones

P.S. Many people who are not natural Labour supporters have told me that they are thinking of lending me their vote this time, because they believe I will put Croydon first. If you are like them, I won’t let you down.
