Holiday Hours & Reminders

Chapter Hours
The Chapter office will be closed on December 25th and will re-open on January 6th. We will check the office email and phone, once a day, for messages in the event someone requires emergency service.

Canadian Blood Services
CBS will not be open to members to collect their products on December 24, 25, 26, 31st and January 1st.
Please be sure to inventory your supply at home and order asap, if need be.

Change to Parking Reimbursement Program

As of January 1st, 2020 members of the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Program will no longer have stickers for the Sherbrook parkade.

Helping CHS-MC members with the cost of parking at the Health Sciences Center (HSC) is an important service that the Chapter prides itself on being able to offer our members. To date, in 2019 the Chapter has provided $2,234 in parking relief to our members. The Chapter will continue to offer this service and we encourage members to retain their parking receipts and send them to the office for reimbursement.

Members can remit receipts one at a time or several at a time. The Chapter will not accept receipts that are more than 12 months old. The street meters around HSC give a receipt as well as all the paid lots around HSC. Please be reminded that parking reimbursement is for bleeding disorders visits to HSC, only.

Chapter volunteers will be wrapping gifts in the Edmonton Court at Portage Place Shopping Centre on Friday, December 20th! We will also have the handmade angels for sale. All proceeds will go to Chapter programs and services. We could use a few more people to help wrap. Call the office at 204.775.8625. This will be a lot of fun!

Thank you for a Great Grey Cup Pool Season!

Thank you so much to all the volunteers and members who made this Grey Cup Pool fundraiser so successful. Thirty-three Chapter volunteers took tickets to sell. We sold out two complete pools! Thank you to the organizing committee: Co-Chairs Bruce Cameron, Tony Tavares, and committee member Wayne Wolanski. Thank you to Linda Laxdal, Wayne Wolanski, Donna Wolanski, Katherine Cameron and Bruce Cameron for working at tables in the community and to Cory Prestayko for helping with packing and sorting the tickets.

Congratulations to all the winners listed on the Chapter website.

CHS-MC Volunteer Award Nomination

CHS-MC is a grassroots organization that relies on our members, family and friends to help us fulfill our mission, “improve the quality of life for those affected by hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders through support, service, research, education and advocacy.”
CHS-MC has a wonderful group of dedicated volunteers who drive our programs and services, advocate for the membership and raise the money we need to function. Without volunteers The Chapter would cease to operate. Did someone touch your life this year? Over many years? You can make a nomination for the 2019 CHS-MC Volunteer Awards. Download a nomination form and show your appreciation. Nomination form
Nominations accepted in person, by mail or email. Nominations close February 14th, 2020.

Sports Bursary Program

The end of the year is close and many children will be changing sports activities. Once a program is completed a Sports Bursary application can be sent in.
The Sports Bursary Program is a CHS-MC funded program to promote a healthy lifestyle for children and youth with bleeding disorders through safe physical activities. Chapter youth 17 years and younger, with a moderate to severe bleeding disorder qualify to apply.
