Welcome to the Newsletter for Healing Neurology

December finds us continuing to evolve the ways we get information to you. Our goal is to both expand our clinical services with more clinicians, including pain management and pain psychiatry, and by taking more of our work online to you with a new membership program coming early 2020. With your monthly membership, you'll have increased access to more podcast material, videos and opportunities to truly heal your neurology.

Dr Ruhoy's Juice to Quiet Pain

Here is a recipe for to improve our digestion, wring out muscular toxins and reduce pain in the body. The sharpness and clarity of these fruits and veggies can bring it all home.
1 whole pineapple
1 bunch dandelion
½ cup pomegranate seeds
1 bunch rhubarb
1 3-inch ginger
20 red grapes
Professional tip: get out pomegranate seeds by either slicing in half, turning face down onto a counter & whacking the skin with a wooden spoon, or, for the more patient of us, submerge in water and use as a sensory exercise to pull out seeds with the tips of the fingers. Great fun for juicing with kids!

February Class: The Amygdala!

Breath work classes are happening! They will continue in 2020 with a changed time to accommodate lunch-time schedules and traffic- now from 12-1pm every Wednesday. Participants report a calmness felt after this hour of quiet awareness. They appreciate the neuroscientific research we discuss as we practice simply breathing in and out. We have reviewed specific practices including nadi shodana and anulom viloma (both types of alternate nostril breathing), kapalbhati (skull-shining breath) and bhramari (bee breath) and will continue to review these and learn new techniques in 2020. Make this practice part of your new decade of awareness. Come join us.

January 2, 2020: Podcast for Healing Neurology starts!

We'll be releasing multiple episodes so you can do some binge listening! Topics exploring neurology inside and out, discussions of the latest research regarding chronic fatigue/ myalgic encephalomyelitis, mast cell activation syndrome, neurodegenerative disease, Alzheimer's, autism, and of course, how we can practically adjust our diet, relationships, mental and physical practices to keep our minds clear and our society just. No topic too big or too small and, yes, we are taking requests- what do you want to know more about? Email us at podcast@centerforhealingneurology.com. Let's get curious (and probably a little messy) in exploring our world. It's what we're here to do and we're excited to do this with you.
Find the Podcast for Healing Neurology wherever you get your podcasts!
Dr Ilene Ruhoy, MD, PhD, is a board-certified neurologist and the founder of the Center for Healing Neurology. Hear her talk about how and why she got interested in neurology in her unique way of smartly discussing the science behind the nervous system as well as the down-to-earth way that we impact our nervous system on a daily basis focusing on rhythm and juice (the name of a new record?!).
Dr Gillian Ehrlich, DNP, family nurse practitioner is also certified in Functional Medicine and Ayurveda, the traditional medical system of India. Listen in to find out how Ayurveda looks at personalizing our approach to health and the value of the invisible aspects of our Self to our health, community and life.
Dr Keesha Ewers, ARNP, PhD in Sexology discusses forgiveness, sex and intimacy. "What's in your head goes to your bed." Listen in to find out what that means, get some ways to reflect on what you might be taking from your history into your current intimate relationships and ways to utilize forgiveness for empowerment.
Imam Jamal Rahman reveals Koranic insights from poets Rumi, Hafiz and others as a tool to nourish personal, community, Interfaith, racial, social, environmental and neurological healing. Listen in for the joy and wisdom in his voice as he recounts these ancient friends to the seeker and shares much needed advice for finding peace and freedom in a noisy world.
Dr Stephen Bezruchka, MD, examines, incredulously, why the US & Syria might be the only two countries in the world to have a shortening lifespan. It's not for lack of effort (we spend more money than any other country on healthcare). Dr Bezruchka's 20-year odyssey led him out of his emergency room practice to face the political and social realities that actually determine our health; spoiler alert, it's not healthcare.

If you are interested in taking a step towards a healthier you in 2020 please call the clinic at 206-379-1213 and we can help you get started on your healing journey.

Vaspernaut of the Month: A Vaspernaut is an individual who has successfully completed 10 Vasper sessions in a 3-week period.

Congratulations to Alexa Rosenthal for achieving “Vaspernaut” status.

My ten session experience with the Vasper was exactly what I needed for my healing process. Dr. Ruhoy and her team prescribed the therapy at the perfect time for me as I continue to recover. Healing from a neurological set back is challenging. The Vasper has given me the physical and mental confidence that I will recover. Being able to push myself at a high intensity level and not have pain the the next day is big for me! I really look forward to continuing the Vasper training as I know it is definitely helping me to heal!”
