Dear All,

I would be very grateful for your support in tomorrow’s election. Here are the reasons I am asking for your support.

Over the past four years, I have been an energetic and active local MP. This has included getting funding for a brand new A&E at Croydon Hospital (Mayday), getting £350m for improvements to the Brighton Mainline, working with Residents Associations to get the morning opening hours back at Purley Hospital’s GP Hub/Minor Injury Unit and campaigning successfully for a one third cut in Business Rates for small shops. I have delivered results for our community.

This election is also a chance to send the Labour council a message about their terrible planning policies. Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour candidate for MP here in tomorrow’s election supports the council’s terrible planning policies – we need an MP who will stand up for our local area, not support the Council’s awful approach.

I am not a career politician, and spent 15 years setting up and running my own businesses before being first elected. This means I know how to get things done, and how to help the economy. Unemployment is at a 45-year record low, wages are rising faster than inflation and the minimum wage has been – and will continue to be –  increased massively.

We need to end the Brexit uncertainty. A deal has been agreed that respects the referendum result while also protecting trade. We need to pass it quickly and move on. Labour and the Lib Dems just offer years more delay and crippling uncertainty.

Having finally fixed the economic mess the last Labour Government left behind, a strong economy means we can now responsibly spend more on public services. This means over 100 extra Police for Croydon (+15%) over the next three years, a record funding increase for the NHS and next year Croydon Schools will get a 7% increase – four times the rate of inflation and the second highest increase in the whole country.

The choice here is either re-electing me as a hard-working and effective local MP – or putting hard-left Jeremy Corbyn into Downing Street. While of course no leader is perfect, Corbyn’s long-standing support for terror organisations and hostile states such as Putin’s Russia, and his reckless plans which would destabilise the economy, should disqualify him from high office.

I will continue to stand up for our area if re-elected and hope to have your support tomorrow.

Best wishes,

Chris Philp
