Welcome to The Table

somewhat weekly inspiration to

nourish | empower | connect

Ready or not, there are a mere 9 days until Christmas.  That makes only nine times that you'll get a chance to shop for friends and family while skipping work or school (Bueller, Bueller - anywho. . . ).  If the fear of not getting it all done in time leaves you FROZEN (2) with fear, worry not, you can always procrasti-mix up a holiday egg nog from one of our favorites Nerds with Knives.  Their feed is stunning and they have recently released a book we were unfortunately unable to get our hands on before the holiday, look it up: Cork and Knife.  If you are done with your shopping, by all means, sit back, relax and read all about obscure things like the history of Christmas pudding.  For those of you at your desks reading this in sheer panic. . . why aren't you working?  Kidding!  Just remember, we can help AND we gift wrap, "it is so much more than a bag" - our compliments, seriously.  At this time of year, it takes more than a minute (those price tags are a pain to get off of everything), but we promise not to crush lavender and toss rosebuds in your package ala Mr. Bean (that is, if you promise not to cheat on Emma Thompson).

Good luck with your preparations,

The team at Goods
Let me just pop it in a box. . . ready in the flashiest of flashes.
Gifts for the Bar Enthusiast
Cocktailing is as hot as ever and why not?  It is essentially the mixing of ingredients to bring out or highlight their qualities, not unlike cooking.  We are stocked full of tools for those passionate about creating beautiful cocktails.  A variety of mixers, bitters, syrups, dried and booze-soaked fruit (ok, cherries, but that counts, right?) and how-to manuals are on the shelves.  If you have whiskey fans on your list try the Whiskey Wedge from Corkcicle, the little slanted mold creates an ice triangle within the glass.  Not to be outdone, by themselves, Corkcicle also created Invisiball.  A round ice mold that fits in the top of one of their 24 oz tumblers.  Once frozen it produces a large ice-ball, mint optional.  Better yet?  Buy a spare lid and your tumbler is now ready for any beverage, booze or not. If you are looking to help someone get started, consider this set from Viski.  Their cut crystal mixing glass, Hawthorne strainer, bar spoon, and Japanese style jigger the perfect beginning to a well-supplied bar.  Finally, everything old is new - remember your grandma's Waterford? Well, you can now get the look without investing the $$$ with the Viski tumblers and decanter.
Gifts for the Bakers
This town is full of baking fanatics based upon the number of pans, rolling pins, and scales that leap from our shelves on a weekly basis and we are thrilled.  Although no one seems to take us seriously when we say that we want samples of their masterpieces.  Oh well.

Add to your favorite baker's collection with some of the hottest items this year:  dough baskets by Brotform are perfect for those making artisanal bread.  This tilting mixing bowl by Mason Cash is handy for maneuvering batters and literally, any style bundt pan is flying out of the shop.  If you need inspiration check the #bundtcake.  The bad news? It'll make you hungry, good news? You won't gain a pound.  Finally, feed any baker's passion with a stand mixer from Cuisinart.  The tough motor will keep cakes coming your way for years.
Gifts for Coffee Lovers
Great coffee can come from many sources. Sure, many have their preferred makers, but if someone you care for is into manual coffee brewing, it's likely they will own multiple brewers.  If you have a traveler or outdoor lover on your list, consider the Aeropress.  It makes a superb cup of Joe and can be taken anywhere in the world.  We know we keep pointing you toward Corkcicle, but hey, they make great, affordable pieces that keep things very hot or very cold.  Their newest shape, the coffee mug, is no exception.  Bodum kicks it old school with their classic French press, but have also introduced their cork-collared glass pour-over.  If you need something for the purest though, consider a Chemex wood-collared brewer and if you buy them a box of unbleached filters you will climb high on their best-gift-giver status list.
Gifts for the Knife Nerd
Fair warning: these are only a small sampling of the blades we currently have in stock.  Dreams can come true when you gift a beautiful, quality knife.  Try one of these showstoppers:  Miyabi's birch handled Nikiri, the 8" Bob Kramer/Zwillings Henkels collaborative damask cooks knife, one of Shun's stunning pieces, or our favorite go-to knife, Wusthof's classic 8" cooks knife (on sale at $99.99).  It is safe to say we are passionate about good steel and think everyone deserves a good knife.  With that commitment, we carry quality blades at every price point.  If you or someone you know is in need of a knife, we'd love to help you find what fits your particular needs.
Gifts from Local Makers
Support the an artist by purchasing a piece from our ever-expanding group of local makers.  Give the gift of nourished hands with cream or scrub by Jessica Healey's Pronounce Skincare.  Invest in a piece of utilitarian art with a gorgeous handmade wood bowl from Frank Pearsall or the hand-thrown pottery of Kris Busch - each piece of their work is unique and one of a kind.  Finally, support Nicole Schonemann from The Goat Conspiracy by picking up a few bars of her lovely goat milk soap.
Did You Know?
Our team can easily put together gifts for teachers, co-workers, and others you would like to acknowledge.  We offer custom gift baskets or sets, personal shopping (no need to be there, just drop us an email, call, or DM us on Instagram), we always offer complimentary gift wrap, and can ship right from the shop.  We are quite literally little elves just waiting to help.
