Letter from the Editor-in-Chief and Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Surgical Neurology International (SNI)

Dear Associate Editors-in-Chief, Editors, Reviewers, and Readers,

We would like to start by thanking you for your contributions to and support of SNI this past year.

As you can see from this pre-publication table comparing the metrics of the leading neurosurgical journals in the world, SNI ranks as the third most widely-read neurosurgical journal in the world, with over 33,000 readers in November. We added over 1000 new readers each month in 2019. SNI is read in 235 countries. Its content is free to everyone. Our low author costs have not changed in the 10 years since we started publication. This year we continued to waive publication costs requested by authors to publish their papers, making new ideas available to all in the world for publication in SNI, regardless of economic status. SNI is pleased to publish papers from all over the world. SNI is a part of a non-profit charitable foundation.

In 2019, SNI published leading papers on developments in spine, cerebrovascular, neoplasia, spinal cord regeneration, stereotaxis, pediatrics, socio-economics and politics, and other subjects. SNI brings our worldwide readers the truth, uninfluenced by organizations, governments, or the biomedical industry. SNI remains an Independent publication, and does not ask the names or email addresses from our readers, in order to maintain their privacy. SNI is devoted to help the seven billion patients on our planet with an enlarging base of all kinds of free information on neurosurgery.

We look forward to SNI’s continued growth. We are exploring new ways to bring information to all of our readers worldwide in the next decade. Please inform your colleagues, from residents to all other neurosurgeons, about SNI. We are open to new scientific ideas from anyone, everywhere.  We have editors who will help rewrite papers to aid the authors in scientific writing so everyone’s ideas can be published for all to read. The best ideas and brightest people live everywhere in the world, not just in the high-income nations.

May you have a happy holiday season and a new year that is happy and successful.

Sincerely,

Nancy Epstein
