Hope this brings back memories of 2019 for you, the images are in no particular order

Hope you enjoy what has been another great year for Redway Runners and you find your favourite moments included

Happy New Year

It seemed a very busy Christmas and New Year with lots going on in Redway Runners, including Santa Saunter, which was followed by the Christmas run with the animals, a swampy Boxing day run, a Review of 2019 run and our first Live Facebook show to name a few.

1 January marked Redway Runners 9th year of starting and I often get ask what the membership stands at so for the 31 December 2019 it was at an amazing 3,378

During 2019, we held a staggering 2,418 runs over the 365 days with over 47,000 on those runs.

As we now move into 2020, plenty of activity already in the pipeline and you can read separate stories on these with:
  • We have 10 beginners’ groups starting shortly, including one specially for ages 13 to 18 year olds
  • The 3rd Redway Runners Expo is on the 22 January and we have over 40 stalls with Karl Robinson opening the event for us should be a good night
  • Our first Move on Up to Marathon course is full and starts next week
  • Our Sunday marathon and longer runs training starts this Sunday with the class of 2020
  • Milton Keynes is a ‘City of Sport’ and we are involved our beginner’s groups are registered and we have approval for the Redway Runners City of Sport hoodie which is on sale now, more to follow in 2020
That is just the start looks like 2020 is going to be a busy year again for Redway Runners

Beginners groups Feedback

We have just had the feedback from the Redway Runners September to November 2019 beginners groups with things like:
  • Everything was so well organised from the communication to the support on the evenings of the runs. We appreciate the time RR volunteers give up to do this. would definitely recommend.
  • My Experience with the Redway Runners especially Annette Smyth (102) and her helpers was exceptional very well organised and informed. As a newcomer I am very happy with the services I have received with the Redway Runners. Thankyou
  • I just wish to say a massive thank you to Annette & Steve & all the amazing helpers who gave up their time to get us up & running! I can nearly say that despite not finding running an easy task I do look forward to getting out there on a Thursday & Saturday so that's a real achievement!!
  • It was great! I cannot believe the progress I made over the 10weeks. I ran my first ever run-5k for that matter on graduation day in 36mins. Anne and Glen are the absolute best!! Thank you Anne and Glen. Thank you Redway Runners.
  • Nope - you guys are fantastic!
  • Everyone is excellent- no worries!
  • Everything was great
  • Can't think of any, I think you all do a great job and there are lots of different runs available for all standards of fitness. Membership is a bargain!

Redway Runners Road Trip - Saturday

This Saturday 4 January 2020 we have our first road trip of 2020 to the new Salcey Forest parkrun, we will go for a big green photo near the start at 8.50am

Had this message from Lou the run director, if you can volunteer then please mail them at: salceyforest@parkrun.com

Heard that you guys are heading to Salcey Forest parkrun next week, I'm RD and looking forward to welcoming you! Just thought I'd get in touch and let you know the parking is discounted at £2 until 11 o clock, which gives you plenty of time to join us for coffee and cake in the ground's cafe afterwards! If you have any supporters coming who are not planning to walk or run the course.

I would really love some volunteers and they can cheer on from around the course. With that comes a free parking permit so could be a way with car sharing to get a few of you parked for free. Really excited to have you visit us, let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, Lou

Milton Keynes Minotaurs Lacrosse Club at the Expo

At the Redway Runners Running Expo on Wednesday 22 January 2020 for 6pm to 9pm at Woughton Leisure Centre we have Milton Keynes Minotaurs Lacrosse Club

The only lacrosse club in the local area always looking for new members who want to try a new team sport. Half the club started as complete beginners, others started playing at school or university. For those who have never seen lacrosse before, the men's game is a like ice hockey without the ice.

The women's game is played to slightly different rules with less contact and is more like field hockey mixed fused with handball. Both formats require players to move the ball in the air, catching and throwing with sticks that have a small net at one end. Lacrosse is very much a running sport. You'll run further in a game of lacrosse that you would playing football or field hockey.

It is acknowledged as the fastest team sport played on grass. Our men's team compete in southern league. Our group of women just train for now as we continue to grow and form a women's team.

In-season training (Sep-Apr) on a Tuesday night at Stantonbury from 8pm; beginners first session free. Suggested minimum age 14 years. Summer training (May-Aug) is on a Wednesday evening from 6:30pm using a couple of venues in MK. Summer training is free and also suitable for younger players, suggested minimum age 10 years. Don't worry about needing equipment as we have everything a beginner needs to play. You just need running gear appropriate for the weather.
