Sunday, Jan 5, 2020 - Canvass Training

01/05/2020, 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm - UUCPA:

Rev. Dan Harper will provide excellent one-hour training sessions on Dec. 8th and Jan. 5th at 12:30 pm.  You do not have to attend, but most people find attending the training helpful and fun. Volunteers needed!  Would you be willing to visit with 2-4 people at UUCPA to chat about why you like this place, as well as your hopes for our community?  These 30-minute canvass visits deepen our commitments and grow our connections. They also support our annual pledge drive in February. Our goal is to reach 100% of our congregation, but we cannot do it without a boatload of volunteers.  We have 20 people signed up so far. Would you be willing to join our crew of canvassers? Email stewardship@uucpa.org if you are interested, or talk with Brooke Bishara or David Chen to get started.

Healing the Divide is a UUCPA group that formed after the 2016 election to ask: 1) what do we not understand about others with more conservative viewpoints, and 2) what can we learn that will help us communicate even across wide differences in belief. The meeting format is variable. In the past, we have discussed a book or article, practiced communication skills, explored our own beliefs about particular topics, and interviewed guests whose views are different from ours. Snacks will be provided. All are welcome to attend.

Sunday, Jan 5, 2020 - Exploring Mind, Hands, Spirit and Heart Through Art: Home

01/05/2020, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm - Room 4/5: Each month on the first Sunday, you are welcome to join in a small-group session of spiritual exploration through art. Today's session: What does home mean to you?--your ideal home, your actual home, your future or past homes . . . ? Starting with images of many kinds of homes, we'll each make one that represents home for us. All people of any age or level of art experience are welcome.
Give your hands and heart a gift by enjoying two hours on a Sunday doing simple and profound art exercises. If you think you have no artistic talent, you will be amazed by what you can do. Each session stands alone, but the exercises and community also build on each other. All materials are provided. For people of any age who can sustain an interest for two hours.

Sunday, Jan 12, 2020 - Discovering UUCPA

01/12/2020, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm - Room 10: Are you a new Unitarian Universalist? Considering UUism? Or well-acquainted with UUism, but new to UUCPA? This one-session class is offered every other month after the second service to answer your questions and help you find your place in the life of the congregation. Each session is on a second Sunday to enable you to begin with Second-Sunday lunch, maybe try out some of your questions there, and then join us for the class at 1:00. We will:
  • Share the spiritual explorations that have brought us to this point
  • Get to know other newcomers and a member and lay leader of the congregation
  • Help each other articulate what we're looking for in a congregation, and discover what UUCPA has to offer to match it
  • Ask questions and get answers
Details:
  • Date: 2nd Sundays, Jan 12, Mar 8, Jun 14
  • Time: 1-2 pm
  • Location: Room 10
