Tree Recycling & Disposal


Deck the Dunes with Troop 117!  Scouts will pick up tinsel-free trees on January 4 & 11.  To register for pickup (or to learn about having trees placed on your dunes) please visit troop117obx.org.

For more information on recycling Christmas trees to stabilize and grow your dune, click here.

Waste Management will also collect ornament free trees placed at the curb on Monday,  December 30, January 6, and January 13.

Residential Recycling Collection Monday, December 30

 
There will be an additional residential recycling collection on Monday, December 30.  For a reminder on what is accepted in your cart, click here.

Town Council Meeting

 
Due to the New Year holiday on January 1, the Town Council will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. 

Limited Inspection Schedule


The Town office will be closed for the holiday on January 1st. No inspections will be conducted.

Additionally, the building inspector will be unavailable to conduct inspections on the following dates while attending continuing education classes: January 9th and January 27th through January 30th. Please plan accordingly.

Pedestrian Plan Phase III Update

 
Due to the holidays, work on the bicycle and pedestrian improvements was limited last week. Millstone Marine Construction continued to drive pilings for the construction of a retaining wall between Cook Drive and Duck Deli. They plan to complete this retaining wall during the week of December 30th.
 
RPC Contracting has prepared the concrete forms for the stretch of sidewalk between Dune Road and Cook Drive and plans to pour this section of sidewalk during the week of December 30th.
 
The northbound travel lane may be closed at times with traffic being stopped or diverted into the middle lane during the closures. Please be alert for construction activity and drive slowly and safely as you travel through this area of town.

Planning Board Vacancy

 
The Town of Duck is seeking applicants for a Planning Board vacancy. Members must own real property in Duck.  If interested, please fill out an application and return to Lori Ackerman by email at lackerman@townofduck.com or in person at the Town Hall, 1200 Duck Rd. 

Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Rotating Art Show: Bobby Wiltshire

 
Watercolor by Bobby Wiltshire is now on exhibit in the Town of Duck Rotating Art Show. The exhibit can be viewed in the First Floor Conference Room at Duck Town Hall Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) November 1, 2019 through January 29, 2020.
