City of Manchester Pays $15,000 to Free Talk Live Host for Illegal Arrest
FTL's Chris Waid was wrongfully arrested in 2017 while video recording a police DUI checkpoint. We had traveled to Manchester to observe a DUI checkpoint and when simply crossing the street to get to the median we were immediately closed in on by angry, shouting police. Given that Chris had crossed first, he was targeted first, while I was able to back away to a safe remove, sensing the aggression that was coming. Both of us had video cameras and
captured the out-of-line police for all to see. They arrested Chris and then trumped up a false "disorderly conduct" charge against him, when the only people being disorderly were the Manchester police themselves, by threatening and arresting a member of the press.
Eventually, the charges were dropped and Chris and his attorney threatened to bring suit against the city and its police department. They responded by offering to settle the case for $15,000. If you'd like to read the full story,
here's my blog about it.
On Free Talk Live, we believe the police should be praised when they go after real criminals with victims but American police are frequently harming the lives of peaceful people and when they do that, they must be held accountable. Perhaps you'd like to interview an FTL host about police accountability? I have a long history of holding police and government agents accountable and have been arrested multiple times for
victimless crimes, so I have plenty of personal experience on these matters. You can reach me to schedule an interview at the contact information below.
WW1 Syndicated "Beyond Reality" Ends Tonight
I haven't seen it anywhere in the trades, which tells me stations didn't get much of a heads-up. An engineer I know reached out to me this morning to give me the heads-up that Westwood One syndicated overnight show "Beyond Reality Radio" is ending pretty much immediately, its last live show being tonight, Friday night. Guess there just wasn't enough demand for ghost-and-paranormal talk at nights to fuel another me-too program. The show didn't even last for three whole years.
If you find yourself in need of programming, we can help as we are live all seven nights per week. Please reach out to me via my contact info below.

"No insane contracts, no added inventory and good, live, compelling programming. I think FTL would work on almost any talk format." - Tom Sebourn, PD of KGOE-AM Eureka, CA
