We are pleased to announce that 2020 Winter Innovation Summit attendees will have the opportunity to listen to Jean Case, Chair of National Geographic and CEO of the Case Impact Network, in a fireside chat with Lindsay Zizumbo, Chief of Staff of the Sorenson Impact Foundation, on Wednesday, February 5.

Jean Case is a philanthropist, investor and internet and impact investing pioneer who advocates for the importance of embracing a more fearless approach to innovation and transformational breakthroughs. Her career in the private sector, including as a senior executive at AOL, spanned nearly two decades before co-founding the Case Foundation in 1997.

VAN JONES

'THE VAN JONES SHOW'
Van Jones will join the 2020 Summit on Thursday, February 6, with a mainstage address about community engagement and development, and how they work best when designed by community members themselves. Mr. Jones will challenge Summiteers, as outside investors, nonprofit organizations, and enterprises, to collaborate with communities to drive change in positive ways.

Van Jones is a Yale-educated attorney and an award-winning pioneer in human rights and the clean-energy economy. He is a co-founder of four successful nonprofit organizations: the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Color of Change, Green For All, and Rebuild the Dream. In 2009, he worked as the green jobs advisor to the Obama White House. Van is currently a CNN Contributor and has written two New York Times Best Sellers: The Green Collar Economy and Rebuild the Dream.

Impact investing pioneer Bobby Turner is the founder of Turner Impact Capital and one of the most compelling advocates for positive financial and societal impact returns in the field. Bobby will join us on the mainstage on Wednesday, February 5, to talk about the evolution of impact investing over the last 25 years and his vision of the future. After his remarks, he will be joined by Marieke Beeuwkes Spence, Executive Director of Impact Capital Managers, for a fireside discussion.

Bobby is the Chairman and CEO of Turner Impact Capital, an investment management firm based in Los Angeles and one of the nation’s largest social impact investment firms, on course to surpass $4 billion in investment in real estate and infrastructure-related solutions. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Turner has established himself as one of the country’s most prominent private equity real estate investors as well as a pioneer in the area of social impact investing. As former Chairman of Canyon Capital Realty Advisors, he was responsible for launching several groundbreaking funds facilitating more than $6 billion in real estate investments in underserved communities.

ANNOUNCING THE GRAND PRIZE WINNERS OF THE FORBES OZ 20  
The finalists of the Forbes OZ 20 were announced on December 12th. During the run up to the Winter Innovation Summit, the Center will feature the key qualities and best practices of the finalists a series of post on Forbes. These will look at the differing approaches emerging in rural versus urban opportunity zones, and the ways in which communities are leveraging local, state and federal incentives to attract investment.
 
On Wednesday, February 5, we will announce the four Grand Prize Winners of the Forbes OZ 20, recognizing two communities and two OZ Funds for their exceptional work. A video case study on each Grand Prize Winner will premiere at the Summit. These videos will be released on Forbes through March 2020 with corresponding articles.
