Andrew DeBlock for Torrance District 6
ISBLA is pleased to endorse Andrew DeBlock for election to the Torrance City Council, District 6, in the upcoming March 3 election. We know Andrew from his work on Al Muratuschi's staff. He'll bring balance to the City Council (which currently leans far right) so that it can represent the broad cross-section of Torrance voters.
In response to a candidate questionnaire, Andrew said he'll work to bring new green businesses to Torrance, and to help existing businesses become greener. He'll work to enable new affordable housing units. He believes dialogue between public and police within a partnership for formal oversight can be useful for all parties, and is open to conversations on public financing of municipal election campaigns.
His opponent Michael Griffiths, did not respond to our questionnaire. His votes and public comments as a current council member have been unnecessarily divisive, and inconsistent with our belief that local government can help solve the issues facing Torrance today
We join the Torrance Democratic Club in endorsing Andrew, and encourage ISBLA members to help Andrew get elected.

Voter registration by mail!
Join us in the Purcell Room of the Peninsula Center Library (701 Silver Spur Road), on Sunday Jan 12 and Sunday Jan 26 from 1:30PM - 3:00PM. We'll be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month through Election Day 2020.
This month, we're sending short hand-written notes to unregistered potential voters in Arizona and Colorado. The letters will include postage-paid, pre-printed registration forms, making it super-easy for people to register. This method has been shown to increase turnout by 1-3% - enough to swing critical elections.
Arizona & Colorado are "Super States" - with potential to swing the Presidential election, to decide control of the U.S. Senate, and to win legislative control to stop Republican gerrymanders after the 2020 census.

Cause of the Month
This month, we're asking you to consider a donation to the Sunrise Movement.
Climate Change is the crisis of our time, and today's young people will be most affected by our actions.
The Sunrise Movement is building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people.

Indivisible To-Do List
- Call your Senator and demand a fair and open impeachment trial. Donald Trump was impeached last week. But despite the overwhelming evidence that Trump abused his authority, violated the law, and repeatedly tried to obstruct justice, Republicans are promising a rigged impeachment trial in the Senate. In fact, just before the vote, McConnell assured America that he “will not be an impartial juror". Call your Senators and demand they uphold their oath to defend the Constitution and hold a fair and open impeachment trial. The foundation of American democracy is at stake.
- Check out impeachnow.org to register or find an event near you. If you’re looking for impeachment-related activities to keep the pressure up over the holiday break, you can go to our partner site impeachnow.org to RSVP or to register events and town halls with your senators and demand they vote for a fair trial and reject McConnell’s rigged rules..
- Text IMPEACH to 977-79 to get the latest updates action items on Indivisible’s Senate strategy. We impeached Donald Trump! But will still need Indivisibles engaged in this fight to have any hope at removing him from office. To get our most rapid response content, and the most up to date info and calls to action, opt in to our Impeachment Fighters text group and we’ll make sure you have all the information you’ll need to keep the pressure up.
- Donate to support 36 frontline freshman House Dems who were elected in the Blue Wave & voted to impeach Donald Trump. These 36 freshman Dems are fighting for democracy, and we’ve gotta have their backs. We’ve set up a fund for these frontliners and 100% of what you donate is split evenly between them. Give the gift of true democracy by sharing this link & donate if you can!
- Register for the National Activist Call on Jan 9 at 8 PM ET. Make sure to join us for an exclusive debrief of the impeachment fight, where we are, and our next steps to make sure Donald Trump is not only impeached, but removed from office.

Holding Our Elected Officials Accountable
We meet regularly with the staff of each of our elected representatives, at both the National and State level, to advocate for our positions on current legislation, and provide feedback to them on their actions & votes.
The meetings are great way to engage in the democratic process! The staff listens carefully - and we often see positive outcomes from these interactions. If you'd like to participate, look for upcoming meetings on the calendar link below.
