Greetings Parents!
My name is Lane Binetruy and my school is Arashi Do Martial Arts West Edmonton: Mayfield. Arashi Do Martial Arts was established in 1988 and has become Canada's premier Martial Arts organization featuring 21 locations instructing in the arts of Brazilian Jiu JItsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Shotokan Karate, and Mixed Martial Arts.
This program is focused on self defense principles & techniques as well as intangibles such as respect, focus, and confidence. This session will set the ground work for an ongoing program and learning in Martial Arts.
Your children will be learning the following:
· Conduct conducive to a safe and fun learning environment
· Fundamental body awareness and movement
· Proper rear, side, front falls
· Identifying and controlling first and subsequent contact with an aggressor (standing)
· Controlling and creating escape from two common pins on the ground
· General evasion as escaping the scene to the safety of known adults, which is essential for their self defense when faced with an adult aggressor
I will be addressing all aspects of their application of the techniques taught, which include:
· Memory of which technique fits the situation
· Progression of steps to execute the technique
· Timing and power in executing the technique
This approach will build upon learned principles and techniques aimed in preserving the safety of the children in a variety of common scenarios. I look forward to their training and I’m excited to see their ongoing progress!

FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
This class is targeted toward ages 8- 13 year olds/grades 3 -7.
What can I bring into the event?
Please wear comfortable clothes for movement and bring water.
When can I register?
This class will run weekly from January to May, once per week on Wednesdays for 40 minutes from 3:20 pm to 4:00 pm. The class will take place at David Thomas King School. Registration will be monthly and if the class isn't full there may be a chance to add registrations for the next month.
