The Powell Family in Thailand 

Winter 2019

• God is our source; all life and ministry must flow from Him
  • (Not the other way around)
• Our family is thriving (great days and terrible days as expected)

  • We are finished with Reading and Writing in Thai and are moving on to learning Bible language in Thai starting in January!
• We've hosted several guests
  • Including a team from our home church in Green Bay
  • Also, GRANDMA and GRANDAD!
• We've had the opportunity to travel to several provinces outside of Bangkok to encourage local pastors and to develop friendships with them
  • 11 Thai people were called to ministry and missions in November!
• Ramkhamhaeng University
  • We have had a fun and exciting time deepening relationships with students at English club!
  • We recently got to introduce them to Thanksgiving and bridge that to the Gospel!
• We are developing several completely God-ordained friendships 
  • We believe we will see spiritual fruit from these people who have yet to hear the Gospel
• God has kept us safe in some dangerous moments
  • If you would like prayer needs, we have them below
• Our end-of-year book keeping shows that we are about $7,000 in the red for ministry and living expenses
  • This is due to some unexpected ministry & living expenses early on and averaging about 90% of our monthly and yearly pledges

God Moments

• The girls and their friend from school get to hang out at their parent's restaurant and yoga studio. Pray for our families to continue to connect supernaturally!
• We thank God and the youth of Wisconsin-Northern Michigan District for our Speed the Light SUV that has already been all around Thailand. Most recently, Brandon took it to the mountains to work with some Hmong Pastors at a Hmong camp - a truly exciting weekend!
• God has given us favor to spend time with our girls who are growing up so quickly.
• We get complements constantly from Thai people on how well we speak Thai. We have so far to go, but it really helps being able to read and understand things daily! 

Kids Corner

• Christmas is warmer this year, but so far we like not having our skin hurt when we step outside! The Christmas tree is up and some familiar decorations keep our family tradition alive!
• The girls are taking a liking to looking pretty like mommy, even trying on her make up when they should be napping . . . We're looking at you Jori. Toddlers are toddlers no matter where they are in the world!
• Loi Gratong is one of the most important holidays in Thailand in early November each year, and the girls dressed up in traditional Thai outfits at their school. TOO CUTE!

Visitors

• We had a men's team from our home Church in Green Bay come out in October to help with an outreach opportunity, and we are so excited to welcome a larger team from Central next Christmas in 2020!
• We've had lots of visitors pass through Bangkok on their way to other places in Southeast Asia, and it has warmed our hearts every time! 
  • If you have the opportunity to come to this part of the world, please be sure to swing by and say hi! Your encouragement and hugs mean the world to us! 
• And we have Brandon's parents, AKA Grandma and Grandad, in town for a few weeks in December, which will sure make this different Christmas season more fun!

Just the Beginning

• There is an awakening happening at Ramkhamhaeng University, which has over 525,000 students on campus.
• One day, after we were leaving teaching a Thanksgiving lesson, we heard the song How Great is our God - CLEAR AS DAY -  in a building far away. It was coming from someone playing a brass instrument. We have no idea where it was coming from our who it might have been played by . . . But we were reminded that God is raising up a generation of worshippers all over this country! 
  • Pray with us that God unifies and rallies together those who already know Him to reach their campus together! 
• Brandon had a chance to go up to the Hmong camp to help with some ministry there, and it was such a great open door for more ministry that is coming up in April!
• 11 Thai People were called to ministry and missions in a service an hour outside of Bangkok, we are excited for this harvest!!!
• The men's team that was here in October helped us team up with the Assemblies of God International Church to reach out to women and men in the Sex Industry to present the Gospel to them and bridge the gap between existing ministries. 
• Pray for the new church that will be getting launched right in one of the red light districts here soon!
