The Week That Was: Show Us the Way to the Next Whiskey Bar

Bourbon and Rye and Metallica and Drake.

Monday, Dec. 16 - Whiskey extravaganza: Bud Verge, Mike Snider and Rob Gates join the boys to sip and pontificate on music-themed whiskey. First up, Drake's new spirit. DO NOT attempt to light on fire.

Tuesday, Dec. 17 - Metallica — also know for their Enter Night beer — have a whiskey and the boys crack the seal for some sipping and learning about how the band's music helps create the spirit. No, really.

Wednesday, Dec. 18 - Bob Dylan's Heaven's Door whiskey is our third and final taste this week and from the sound of it, the those spirits are starting to take effect. The verdict on the whiskey? As good as an iron gate.

Thursday, Dec. 19 - It's back to beer in the basement, as Rob, Jim, Patrick, Bud and Mike talk about drinking songs. Say hello to James LeBlanc and The Winchesters.

Friday, Dec. 20 - By the end of long week drinking whiskey and beer, memories naturally become a little cloudy. So why not have another round? Or two?

"Best band of the decade?" No comment.

On Deck: Best of the Decade!

The 2010s are almost in the books. Which music stood out?

Monday, Dec. 23 - Our amazing listeners — lead by Mike Wagner — created a playlist with their favorite songs of the last decade. Patrick and Jim chipped in and all week we hit shuffle and talk about the songs that come up.

Tuesday, Dec. 24 - More best of the decade shuffle and chat. Will Patrick get to talk about Vampire Weekend today?

Wednesday, Dec. 25 - NO SHOW. HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

Thursday, Dec. 26 - After all the presents have been opened, we've still got more best of the decade songs to unwrap.

Friday, Dec. 27 - The last Best of the Decade show is in the books. Parquet Courts anyone?

Last But Not Least: Friday New Releases!

Need a last minute gift? No problem. Just round up the gang and sprint down to Record Mart to grab one of these two releases and stuff those stockings, y'all.

Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas is You (25th anniversary edition) (Columbia/Legacy)

This stone-cold holiday jam reached No. 1 on the pop chart this year, a quarter century after its release. This EP includes a live version, a couple of remixes and live version of another hit song, “Hero.” The gifts just keep on coming.

Various - Cats: Highlights from the Motion Picture Soundtrack (Polydor)

Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and others perform songs from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical (now a major motion picture!). The soundtrack includes a new tune, “Beautiful Ghosts,” cowritten by Swift and Webber. But let’s be honest, none of it can possibly be as good as this:

A little something from Cats, Paul...
