On Wednesday, December 11th, Swords to Plowshares’ Oakland Service Center hosted our annual holiday meal and backpack giveaway for homeless and impoverished veterans in the East Bay.

Thanks to our supporters, we served more than 100 veterans a warm holiday meal and provided backpacks full hygiene kits and other supplies. A special shout out goes to Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins for sponsoring this event!

The winter holidays can be a cold and lonely time for homeless veterans. We continue our goal to raise $30,000 for “Cold Nights, Warm Hearts” to bring hope and cheer to veterans in need. We still need your support. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every little bit helps!

• $20 pays for a holiday meal for a veteran
• $50 pays for a backpack full of supplies
• $100 pays for a night of emergency housing and a food voucher
