Merry Christmas! I have been thinking upon the story of Zachariah and Elizabeth found in Luke 1. The story of a couple that prayed and cried out to God to give them a child but, to their heartbreak, they could not conceive. This did not stop them from serving the Lord, however. In fact it was Zachariah who was serving in the temple when an angel appeared to him out of nowhere and told him “Don’t be afraid! Your prayer has been heard. Your wife, Elizabeth will conceive and bear a son, and you shall call him John.” Their son John grew up to be John the Baptist the one who prepared the way for Jesus.
I love this story because it reminds me that faithful prayers from a servant's heart can change the world. I want to thank you for your prayers and support for Chi Alpha. Without you the work we do in the lives of college students would not be possible.
I am writing this letter as I sit in my house hosting a study session for students during finals week. Not much studying is going on, but a lot of love fills this place. Students side by side laughing, hugging, crying, worshiping and praying for each other. This community means so much to these students, I just wish you could be here to feel the warmth and love in this room. I am so blessed to get to witness students falling in love with the ways of Jesus and it is that journey that makes a night like tonight even possible, because once a student begins to walk in step with Jesus their life is forever transformed.
May you be transformed by the ways of Jesus this Christmas and always. Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support. We are so grateful for you.
