HOPING FOR REPAIRS TO AM TRANSMITTER
Last week, KVAK’s AM transmitter did not come back online following an outage. KVAK’s engineer had a chance to look at the transmitter and it appears a part was damaged and not functioning properly. The part has been removed from the transmitter and sent to a Harris Transmitter specialist in Washington. We are hoping to hear that the part can be fixed. If it can, the part will be shipped back to Alaska and our engineer will have to fly in to install it. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will keep you updated. Until then, country lovers can find 1230AM KVAK streaming live 24/7 at kvakradio.com. Just click the “Listen Live” Link.

UNIQUE HOLIDAY TRADITIONS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Travel & Leisure - Forget Santa. Overseas, you might be celebrating the holidays with St. Nick’s evil counterpart — the Krampus.
Australia: In the land down under, December 25 falls in the middle of summer vacation, making it the perfect time to throw a yuletide beach party.
Japan: Traditional Christmas dinner for millions of Japanese is not turkey or ham, but a bucket of KFC.
Mexico: December 23 marks the Night of the Radishes in Oaxaca, Mexico. This interesting tradition is a celebration of oversized radishes, which are carved into intricate displays.
