1.  Sea World Orlando to change killer whale show in 2020

ORLANDO, Fla. -- SeaWorld Orlando says it will begin 2020 by changing its centerpiece killer-whale show.  The incoming show is "the continuing evolution" of SeaWorld shows, Dennis Speigel, CEO of International Theme Park Services, told the newspaper.

2.  The top 10 theme park moments of 2019

OK, theme park fans — what were your favorite moments of 2019? Here were mine:  The end of Prohibition at Disneyland: Oga’s Cantina opened with the rest of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland in May, becoming the first bar open to the public in Walt Disney’s original theme park. (Club 33 has been serving for years, but you have to be a member, or know one, to get in.) Despite the wailings of some fans, the world did not end.
 

3.  Photo Update: Super Nintendo World gets ready for players coming 2020

Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan is coming along quickly as the promised Spring 2020 opening soon approaches. Thanks to theme park fans in Japan, we have compiled a collection of shots to see new looks into this upcoming land.

4.  A Harry Potter Holiday: Celebrating Wizard Christmas At Universal Studios Orlando

Here’s some chemistry for you: take one magical universe of witches and wizards, add one part holiday cheer, and mix well. The result? The Christmas season at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which takes everything special about J.K. Rowling’s novels about The Boy Who Lived, and adds an extra layer of magic. Through January 5, Universal Studios Orlando is having holiday celebrations throughout the park—like an enormous Christmas parade every day with 30 balloons and floats—but the best part, hands down, is the festivity in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. (If I sound enthusiastic, well, try standing in the middle of one of your favorite novels come to life, while you watch the castle in front of you magically transform into a holiday light show and fireworks go off around you, and see how you feel.)

5.  Avengers Campus will open this summer at Disneyland

The Disneyland Resort this morning announced a summer opening for its Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. It's a Christmas present for theme park and Marvel fans, who had been wondering just when in 2020 the new superhero-themed land would debut.

6.  A second Cedar Point amusement park was almost built in Michigan

In an alternate universe, north of Onsted, ground was broken in March 1975 after months of planning for a second Cedar Point amusement park. Approximately 160 acres of land would be developed in the coming months, with a grand opening in June 1976, just in time for the nation’s bicentennial.
 

7.  Disney’s Believe-It-Or-Not: Weird moments reported to deputies at Disney World in 2019

At first glance, the reports seem pulled straight from the satirical website called The Onion.  A wheelchair chase? A feud over meat. And photos of, wait, what?

8.  Disney Quietly Makes GIANT Land Purchase In Time for Christmas Eve

Though most Disney guests this past week have been enjoying the holiday festivities at Walt Disney World, the resort very quietly made a big move earlier this month, purchasing more than 230 acres of land just west of Magic Kingdom, according to Orange County records.

10.  California’s Great America WinterFest: Transforming a theme park into a holiday wonderland.

On the heels of the successful Halloween Haunt, Cedar Fair introduced WinterFest in 2016 at California’s Great America, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. With millions of lights and thousands of decorations, the nighttime holiday event expanded the park’s operating calendar and provides additional incentive for both day and season pass holders to visit. WinterFest has expanded to six additional Cedar Fair parks, including Canada’s Wonderland, which introduced the event this year.

12.  Ride Roller Coasters Through Italy, France, and Germany at This European-themed Amusement Park in Virginia

If a European vacation isn’t in the cards for you this year, a visit to Williamsburg, Virginia could do the trick. At Busch Gardens Williamsburg, visitors are transported — by train, no less — through Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, and England. You can build a loaded baked potato at Ireland’s O’Tators before digging into a cannoli in Italy’s Marco Polo’s Marketplace. Then, head to Germany for OktoberZest, a show that promises to entertain with music and dancing that celebrates the German culture.

13.  Most Influential Cedar Fair New Roller Coasters of the Past 10 Years (2010-2019)

Looking back at the past ten years of Cedar Fair history, there has been quite a few new roller coasters added to their lineup spread out among 7 of the 11 amusement parks in North America. From the two Intimidator roller coasters added to Kings Dominion and Carowinds back in 2010 to the latest Copperhead Strike and Yukon Striker, the company often gives us new screams to come back for more. In addition, as technologies and designers evolve, many are pushing the boundaries of what we have come to expect from a roller coaster.

Good morning from a very busy EPCOT park! The day started off stormy, but cleared up quickly. I guess that’s just good old Disney magic for ya! Let’s see what all is going on in the park today.
 

15.  New owner revealed: Comics Station Antwerp will open again on this date

Now that the Belgian amusement park Comics Station Antwerp has been saved from bankruptcy, the renovation can begin. The indoor amusement park will remain closed for work for the time being. The new owner, the Plopsa Group, announced today when visitors will be welcome again.

1.  Malibu Jack's unveils larger East End location (PHOTOS)

Malibu Jack’s is ready to show off its new indoor theme park in Louisville. The entertainment complex has relocated its Louisville location into the former Walmart store at 1915 S. Hurstbourne Parkway, where it has expanded its business model to include small theme park-style rides, including a twisting roller coaster and more than 100 arcade games. 

2.  Andretti Indoor Karting & Games Coming March 2020

The Grandscape development in The Colony is quickly becoming an entertainment destination in North Texas. Get ready for thrills and fast-paced adventure when Orlando-based Andretti Indoor Karting & Games opens in The Colony March 3.

3.  ‘Lightsaber Dojo, A Star Wars VR Experience’ now available at select locations

ILMxLAB has announced that “Lightsaber Dojo,” an arcade-style virtual reality (VR) experience, can now be found at select pop-up locations at Simon centers and Cinemark Theatres.  This VR experience, an extension of the “Vader Immortal” series, allows players to train with a lightsaber and the Force against waves of training droids and Star Wars creatures.

4.  In Lancaster County, you can zipline through holiday lights; here's what it's like

Refreshing Mountain Retreat and Adventure Center is offering a holiday-themed excursion in the form of two ziplines, as well as a 22-part elevated obstacle course.

5.  Incredible Pizza poised to replace PowerPlay entertainment center in Shawnee

Family fun is the name of the game for one business moving to Shawnee, and it's filling the space of a similar company that recently went out of business.

6.  ‘Oddbods’ Family Entertainment Center Opens in China

One Animation, in partnership with CMC Inc., has announced the opening of multiple Oddbods themed Family Entertainment Centers (FECs). The initial launch took place in in Xi’an, China, on November 30. The large attraction encompasses two floors of the newly developed Creative Circle mall and is one of the first zones of the development to be completed.

7.  Snazzy restaurants, go-kart track, ‘Kinky Boots’ highlight city life aboard new Norwegian Encore

In its fourth and final vessel in the Breakaway-Plus class of behemoths, Norwegian has produced a fine Encore. Its size seldom is a negative issue, and you won’t get bored with a few same-old, same-old restaurants; there are more 20 places to dine. 

8.  Topgolf Reportedly Headed To Bergen County

With locations in Edison and Mount Laurel, Topgolf's new facility will reportedly open at the former Sears distribution center at the Maywood Commons.

9.  Urban Air Adventure Park opens in Shenandoah

When you walk into Urban Air Adventure Park you might see kids literally bouncing off the walls and hear the echoes of laughter that rings throughout the 40,000 square-foot indoor theme park in Shenandoah.

10.  45 people get stuck mid-air after giant Ferris wheel malfunctions

Chaos struck as 45 people got stuck mid-air, riding a giant Ferris wheel that malfunctioned at a local fair in Surat on December 25.

11.  Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s $150 million expansion inches closer to completion

Back in June, DLR Group|Westlake Reed Leskosky was selected to design the next phases of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History (CMNH) Centennial Transformation Project. The multiphase project was initiated over ten years ago and includes several phases of renovations, as well as a 50,000 square-foot addition for education and exhibition spaces.   The $150 million campaign to transform the museum’s entire campus is anticipated to be fully finished by 2026, but Phase 1 (Gateway) is gearing up for completion by December 2020, in time for the museum’s centennial celebration.

1.  Massanutten announces Outdoor WaterPark expansion coming Summer 2020

McGAHEYSVILLE, VA. – Massanutten Resort in Virginia is making a big splash in 2020 with an expansion to their 88,000 sq. ft. Outdoor WaterPark. This announcement comes just before the Massanutten Indoor/Outdoor WaterPark’s 14th birthday, which will fall on Thursday, December 19, 2019.
 

2.  Splash Out Water Theme Park In Langkawi Just Opened & They Have Massive 6-Storey Slides

On Tuesday (24 Dec), Penang Foodie reported the opening of Splash Out — a new water theme park in Langkawi, Malaysia.  This water kingdom has 12 thrilling slides including Splash Twister, River of Life, Perfect Storm and Shipwreck Falls that will guarantee your family a splashing good time.

3.  It’s time the talk of a proposed water park stops being fluid

As we approach the end of 2019 and begin the downward slide to 2020, there remain several unanswered questions for the city.  
One of those has been lingering for about four years, and the object of this question is beginning to take on a mythical character all its own — the water park.

4.  Man charged with hate crime after Mt. Olympus assault

Bradley D. Davis, 34, of Hales Corners, was charged with felony aggravated battery with the modifier of a hate crime because Davis allegedly “intentionally selected the person against whom the crime was committed” based on a perception regarding their race.

ST. LOUIS — Hundreds lined up inside Union Station on Christmas Day to be among the first to visit the city’s newest attraction: The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station. They dressed in light-up Santa hats, festive sweaters and homemade crocheted caps, just unwrapped that morning.
 

2.  Play in snow and see 3,000 new animals at The Florida Aquarium

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean all of the fun has to end.  While kids are on break and you’re trying to fit in fun family time, there is plenty to see and do at The Florida Aquarium.

3.  Save The Bay Announces New Touch Tank Featuring Sharks

Save the Bay has announced that a new shark-and-skate touch tank will be installed at its Exploration Center and Aquarium.  Starting January 1, the Center will be closed to the public for the installation of the new attraction, “Sharks and Skates of Narragansett Bay.”

6.  Rare black rhino born in Michigan zoo on Christmas Eve

Doppsee, a 12-year-old rhino at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Mich., gave birth to a baby male who has yet to be named early on Christmas Eve, according to a Tuesday statement from the zoo.
 

7.  Ape hit: German zoo animals go wild for gifts

Wilhelma zoological and botanical gardens has unleashed an unusual offering for some of the animals it hosts — Christmas presents. The venue in Stuttgart has more than 2 million visitors annually.
