1000 apologies for making this so close to Christmas - I know it's a busy time and usually bookings would have all been done by now.  Uncertainty around the venue space and some negotiations with the YMCA regarding significant price increases have made Term 1, 2020 a little more challenging to organise.
But we got there in the end, with 42 (still affordable) fabulous classes and activities for families to enjoy.  I'm still doing a few last minute tweaks, but everything will be ready to book by the dates and times above.

There are lots of spaces - but there will always be a class or two that everyone wants where there's not enough room.  If you miss out, PLEASE use the enquiry button to go onto a waiting list.  Often we can get you in, and it helps for future planning.

We've all benefited, as a group, from the huge support shown to us by the YMCA. We have an excellent working relationship and they have helped us out in many ways - mostly, I have to say, by making so much space available to us on Thursdays.  As the group has grown, we've used up pretty much every available inch.  We've also had free use of their gymnasium for dance and karate, and also as a space for our events.  While the increase in venue hire will mean increasing our class fees slightly, it's fair and probably overdue.  The venue is unique in that we have a huge gymnasium space, gymnastic equipment, sports tutors, room for classes and the lovely green grass out the front for pop up playgroups, play and socialising :)   I love that there is space for us to all get together, for our families to meet up in an environment that is not too public, good parking, good coffee :) and where we can get outside on good weather days.

THE HOMESCHOOL GROUP is a group for families, across all ages.  It's a family dynamic and I hope that's represented in the range of classes we have.

Delighted to have more options for our under 5's.  There's Mini Gym, Little Crafters, Little Dancers (free), and now Creative Play (free) which is an opportunity at 11am for under 5's to enjoy some free play outside together.  We aim to have this on the blue Futsal court down by the car park (which is fully fenced).  It's parent supervised and a wonderful idea (huge thanks to Joanne Dockery for thinking of this AND organising it).

There are many options for our intermediate age group, and so pleased to have five fantastic options for our growing group of teens.

When you book your classes online, you will receive by return email a booking confirmation/invoice.  If you've received that in your inbox, it means I have your booking and your classes are confirmed and good to go.

THERE IS NO PAYMENT REQUIRED UNTIL THE WEEK OUR TERM STARTS.

Class fees are per term and include GST.

Term 1 2020 runs from 13 February to 2 April (8 weeks).

If booking for more than one student, please let me know in the notes section which student is doing which classes.  OR you can let me know later via email or txt.

We don't need your address details, just your name, student's name and a contact phone number.

Please feel welcome to contact me if you have any questions about the classes, or need any information.  I'm always happy to talk :)   My number is 0272209949.

SOME POINTS TO NOTE ABOUT TERM 1, 2020

Dance programme:  Tegan is moving to Taupo, she has been offered an amazing dance opportunity there.  We will miss her!  She kindly recommended her dance colleague Amber Coates, and Amber is looking forward to tutoring our dancers in term 1.  Amber's teaching style is similar to Tegan's and her profile is on each dance class details.

For
OUTDOOR ADVENTURES LEVEL 2, KARATE BEES & DRAMA 13+ we are holding spaces for returning term 4 students, AND spaces for NEW students.  Please note that for these classes there will be TWO booking tabs - one for RETURNING term 4 students and one for NEW students.  Please book your student on the appropriate tab, thanks!

Outdoor Adventures:  In term 1, there are two Outdoor Adventures classes.  Level 1 is at 11am and is for new students to join.  Level 2 is at 1:30pm and is for any term 4 2019 students to move up into.  OR for new students 11+ to join. Please note there are two separate tabs to book on, either returning term 4 students OR new students.  Level 2 is more advanced than Level 1 so please make sure your student is okay with outdoor challenges, problem solving and a degree of difficulty.

SPECIAL MENTION for our science classes.  Science Lift Off! is for students 7-9 years, Science Explore is for students 10-12 years.  For 2020, The Homeschool Group have invested in an amazing resource from House of Science "Raising Scientific Literacy". The resource kits are designed for use in schools to provide students lots of opportunity for hands on science experiments and are in line with the NZ science curriculum. Please take the time to watch the House of Science video, read about the kits and look at feedback from school teachers (all this info is below the class details for Science Explore and Science Lift Off!).  Our tutor for these classes is Sandy McGivern-Butler, former Science & Chemistry high school teacher. Sandy's enthusiasm for science is infectious - thanks to you Sandy for combining your teaching with this fabulous resource to bring science to these age groups.
